From iriver Wiki, your source for everything iriver - a part of MisticRiver.
You are now able to skin your H10's screens. We have only achieved the following because other parts of the GUI are in the encrypted H10.MI4 file, and this can only be (safely) done on UMS H10s (MTP to UMS converted players are unlikely to work at this stage), so ones you would use iriver Plus to update.
You can change:
- Boot Screen
- Lock icon
- Low Battery Icon
- USB connected Screen
- USB Connected Icon & Text
- USB Busy Icon & Text
- Safe to disconnect icon & Text.
This can all be done using Crazyivan's application, available from the link below.
Instructions
To create your own skin:
- Download the application available from the link below
- If you want you can use the originals as a template. Once the program is running, it will have the default screens showing. Left-click to save them to an image file you can edit. .png is a good type to save them as, as it has no compression, and handles many colors.
- Edit the files to your liking, ensuring they are the same size as before
- Right-click to find the new files to insert into the image changer program
- Once completed, click Save
- Save your BL_H10.ROM and use the installation instructions to set them up.
To install a pack:
* Make sure it is named BL_H10.ROM (rename if you have to) and put a copy into the root directory of your H10 (Don't open a folder...)
- Disconnect your H10 from your PC and start it up.
- Once started, choose Settings -> Extra -> Firmware Upgrade. It will ask if you are sure, choose yes.
- A screen will appear saying not to operate during upgrade.
- If your H10 Freezes here, wait until there is no noise coming from your H10 (when the upgrade is happening you can JUST hear the hard drive working) when it stops, you can disconnect the battery. Start your H10 and the new screens appear immediately.
More Information and basic facts
- The BL_H10.ROM file id deleted when the firmware is upgrades. Make sure you have a copy on your computer when using it.
- This process MAY brick your player. It has been tested well on UMS 5Gb H10s, and has not yet been too much of a problem. MTP H10s, however, have many problems with this. So far any H10 converted from MTP to UMS seems to brick after the second application of this mod, so it is pretty unstable.
- We are not to be held responsible (That is, CrazyIvan, Crashd or anyone involved) for any damage to your player.
- Yes, if your PC works at high color settings, you will lose detail when the program converts the image. The H10 can't handle 32-bit color, only 16-bit.
Skin Packs
- These are the "themes" you use. I will try to update it as often as I can --Adamti91 07:54, 23 November 2005 (EST)

Notes
If your player "bricks" (locks up and fails to even boot again), we do NOT take responsibility for it.
MTP to UMS converted players are unlikely to work with this modification, in fact the conversion is a bit risky too.
