Toshiba Hard Drive Formatting and PartitioningFrom iriver Wiki, your source for everything iriver - a part of MisticRiver.[edit] Opening The PlayerTo open the player, you must remove ten screws, four on the top, four on the botton, and one on each side. To do this, you will need a Torx T5 wrench (a small flathead screwdriver can be used instead). Remove the four screws on each end, and remove the end caps. Now, remove the two black screws on the sides. Next, carefully pull apart the player. Life the battery and back cover, exposing the hard drive. Remove the black piece of rubber laid on top of it. Gently wiggle the hard drive out. Now, replace it with the new drive, again gently wiggling it in. Replace the rubber bit, place the back cover and battery back on and close the player the same way you opened it. [edit] Formatting and Partitioning your new driveNote: This only works for drives 32GB or less in capacity. First, go to Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Add/Remove Hardware. Choose Add/Troubleshoot a Device, and click next. Then Windows will search for devices, and with a little luck, your drive's name will appear on the list. Select the correct drive, and click Finish. It should state that the device is working properly. Now go to Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management Under storage, select Disk Management. You should see your drive listed. Right click it, and select partition. Choose primary partition (This is vital!) and click next Decide on what size you want the partition to be (I opted for the maximum allowable). Once you've done all this, select format drive. MAKE SURE that you choose FAT32 as the format type. You may label the volume as well. Click next, and the formatting begins. It took about 20 minutes on a 30GB drive. And now your drive should show up in Windows Explorer, and you should be able to load music. Back to Customize Your H1xx |
