Used processors for iRiver: Samsung combined an ARM core and a DSP with a focus on low power consumption.
See e.g. Samsung S5L8700X (pdf), which includes USB 2.0, ATAPI Host Controller, TFT-LCD Controller etc. The SA family used by iRiver might be an ASIC, derived from this platform, but proprietarily adjusted for iRiver's needs. |
