Today iriver Korea has released the much anticipated P20 into the wild.  A plethora of photos, features and a page in the estore with pricing (approx. $558US/120GB model).  Looking slightly different from its prototype cousin at CES 2008, the P20 rings in with a 4.1″ AMOLED display, RAW photo viewing, flash memory support via an external dongle and battery life rated at 12hrs audio and 9hrs video.  While the 9hr battery life for video is commendable, the audio battery life is sparse, but considering that this was originally “titled” a “photo tank”, we’ll cut iriver some slack.

The iriver P20 gets its first “handling” at IFA 2008, and thanks to Engadget, we all can revel cringe from their first impressions of the device. Although the specs of the device remain mostly the same as revealed at CES 2008, the navigation seems to be the major issue here. With a confusing combination of two thumb wheels and a touch screen, coupled with the fact that some menus are only accessible via thumb wheel, it seems that iriver may have created a navigational disaster. As Engadget stated, they had very limited time with the device so it may be too early to tell, but initial impressions don’t sound good especially compared to their favorable experience with the Spinn.
