the streaking problem that i had made it so that there were random coloured horizontal lines across the screen, making the movie completely unvisible
However, i managed to get it replaced. You should also be able to get it replaced through the iRiver warranty if the shop wont replace it. |

My new H340 has SN# 132253041002789 and it plays videos perfectly well. My first H340 was bought in Sep2004, actually I don't remember its SN, but it also didn't experience any problems playing the videos.
But if to compare the LCD it is much better now than it was in the first batches. |

Hi
i was one of those "lucky" few whose H340 plays "steaky" videos. well the problem is with the LCD screen. i brought mine to the agent- Jebsen and Jessen service centre, they checked it out and said it was due to the LCD screen. they then replaced a new one for me and it worked fine the very first time with the same video encoded using virtualdub. the new set's serial number is 132253040700xxx. |

I think the streaking is not entirely due to the player itself. When I use firmware 1.06eu (the one that originally came with my player) the streaking problem in the picture thumbnail view is not there. But when using any video enabeled firmware it is.
secondly, i've come across similar problems on my pc (not related in any other way though) wich was due to the dvd software that I installed. when i removed that software, the problem was gone. So it may be the implementation of the codec that causes this problem. I think that Iriver (and any other manufactorer for that matter) uses different components for i.e. memory and other minor components, depending on the cost of that particular piece. therefore not all player have nessicarily the same components. just to add more confusion to the problem ^_^ (s/n: 13114001000xxx) |

in my previous message (with the bugmenot account, feb 5) I wrote that I thought it was not entirely due to the player. This thought has been reaffirmed by the following:
When I press, during video playback, the record btn. or when I pause the video, the bottom quarter of the screen will almost perfectly show the video (only little rendering issues visible in that area) I think it has something to do with the video overlay. |

welcome in from bugmenot!!!
good find, but the problem is that many here have tested the video playback with the same file. some find no problems at all and some have this streaking problem. it does then sound like a hardware fault. a

I have this streaking problem as well. My parents bought the player for me overseas while they were on holiday...so I can't exactly return it to the store. They bought it in Dubai and I'm in Australia.
Is there any other way I might be able to get my faulty iriver replaced? Thanks for any help |
