0.05 is out
Code:
version 0.05 (1/28/2005):
        * Added drag-and-drop to video and directory inputs and queue list
You can drag files or directories from your favorite file browser to the input boxes of the Single Video and Directory tabs. You can also drag any combination of files and directories to the queue list. When dragging a directory to the queue list it does not do the subdirectories. This is the first time I have implemented DnD in a program but I think I have done it flawlessly . Play around with it!

Can someone, MSV or otherwise, confirm which birate is best? I encoded at 500 and there was a synching problem, but I've had synching problems with every program I've used. Any setting that reduces this consistently? And if I reduce it from 500, will the video quality be diminished? Thanks.

I had sync problems with a bitrate of 500 and dropped it to 400. My videos are now in sync, however yesterday one of mine had bad sync near the end of the video. I shrugged it off, but maybe rewinding/fast forwarding could have helped.

Since the screen size is soo small to begin with, quality loss wasnt noticable. However, if you go sub 350-400 bitrate, you will get a lot of problems.

this is just an idea, but maybe when iRiver said that it supported bitrates of 500kbps, they meant INCLUDING the 128kbps of mp3. I've only ever had perfect reults with 350, 400 still had sync problems. (hence my theory)

Dr. Spoon I think you may be right here. I tried your theory and the a/v is a lot better. I converted at 322 vbr and 128 abr because that = 450. iRiver said 450 is what you should use but I also tried it at 372 vbr and 128 abr = 500. The one in 322 was better then the one at 372 sync wise. I'll try going smaller vbr maybe making it equal 400? I'll test different intervalsl ike that using same video file and letting you guys know what happens.

Eggman90 there is only one person that can help you with this and its the programme maker. Relax he will get back to you soon.

I just converted the first full movie for my PMP, a slight adjustment needs to be made to the programme MSV to stop it splitting the file into pieces (for PMP settings), other than that, one hell of a programme.

great program...

i have a suggestion tho:

is it possible to have each chapter export as one clip when doing DVDs?
so you'd have a folder named as the movie
and in it each chapter as a clip with that name.

so if i were to take a DVD named Vacation, which had 10 chapters and check the "export in chapters" box, then it'd come out

in the folder Vacation
01-on the plane
02-lost luggage
...

and so on

and if it's not possible to read the chapter titles, then just put "01-chapter1, 02-chapter2", and so on so that people can manually change them to the chapter names.

possible?

Thats a great suggestion for family videos and programmes like Jackass etc which is split in section, I would love to see that feature but my priority is the actual stopping of the programme splitting the video, also I may be a good idea to allow the user to specify the time to split at that way they can use a DVD player and work out where to cut so you dont end up loosing out on a conversation.

well actually i want it for the DVDs i'm converting, because i'd like to be able to do a 'chapter search' of sorts for the movies.

but it'd be optional, so won't really mess up anyone.

and you're wanting an option to turn off spliting so that you don't have to delete the split files, as you don't have a file length limit on the PMP, right?

eggman90, add a ".avi" to the output file. I just wrote the error checking code for this.

Astec, I wasn't aware that the PMP could play any length video. Will fix for next release.

Alienshards, good idea. I'll see what I can do.

Double yippeee!!!!
Just off topic here why wont you accept donations? You deserve something for all that time you spend working on iRiverter.

Maybe you should open a thread for suggestions only so you have a home for the ideas of users. Also yes the PMP plays right through, my balls up, I should have said it when I suggested the PMP support. Helps coming on fine BTW.

A small collaboration.
Here is another version of the Icon. It is a multi-resolution icon so it will display at 16x16, 32x32, 48x48 and 64x64 pixels under the different windows conditions. It is just a start based on the previous icons posted here. I will try to improve it, specially around the edges. I will also try to draw the iriver in 3d view, and see how it looks substituting the CD for a filmstrip.

londonludd the background needs to be transparent (not sure if it is as PSP wont open) but the h300 on all of these seems to be wrong its too dark, after my current backlog of production maybe I will add an ICO file.
