Zbart - everybody gets this from time to time - don't know why. The best method I found was to convert your DVD to an MPEG or AVI in something like HandBrake http://handbrake.m0k.org/ and then use iRiverter to convert it to a suitable file for iRiver. A bit longwinded I know but the quality of the sound and picture is far superior to doing a straight DVD->iRiverter conversion - and best of all you rarely if ever get the 'Skipping File' message.

Help needed please.

This mencoder problem sometimes happens saying it needs to shut down, so the video isn't converted.

I don't know what's wrong because I've converted different videos in different formats with no hassle. It's always the same videos I get this problem with.

Anybody have any advice? Thanks.

Yeah, I was justlooking on there and saw only the mac osX options. I was actually looking for a program just like this but I couldn't find it. Also, would file lengths have anything to do with it? Iriverter just converted another one of my movies from DVD > .avi and split it up into two files and it worked fine.

Zbart

I see that it isn't available for windows. What could I do if I have DVD Decryptor? Use that to copy it to my computer then use Iriverter to convert it for the Iriver?

I just succesfully ripped two movies from DVD > Iriver via Iriverter and they both worked fine except one used the French version which I don't know why.

Thanks,
Zbart

Long Movies Split ...

Hi all,

This Thread is very very long, perhaps the question was asked before ..., but please let me ask, because I think, this is general interest:

From TV I have recorded three MPEG volumes (2,097,000 KB; 2,097,000 KB and 871,000 KB, from one movie > 120 minutes length).

With iriviter I succeed to automatically split every volume recorded (with a 30 minutes iriviter preset) into smaller avi (H340) parts.

For the first two volumes I gain three split parts, for the last volume two split parts. In total I have 8 split AVIs now (got me ?) which should be able to play on the H340.

Unfortunately I can not control iriviter to split equally, the first, fourth and seventh split part contain fairly 210 MB, whereas all other are below 105 MB, which is very fine.

As a result the 340 still jumps over the first, fourth and seventh part and only can play the 2,3,5,6 and 8th part.

Therefore I think that the unreadable parts are still too long (> 60 minutes ??? ...). By the way, I don't think that the minutes preset of 30 minutes does reflect reality, the whole video is only 140 minutes (whereas 8*30 minutes is fairly 240 minutes ...).

Any idea, what is going wrong ???

Any advice is appreciated, thanx in advance !

Best regards

i think iriver will give you the entire encoded file and the splitted files as well (so from the first 2,097,000 KB file it makes a 210 MB.. then it splits it and give you 2*105 MB, that makes 3 files for each mpeg) since the 210MB is not splitted it doesn't work on the iriver.. that's what i think, but i can be wrong

I've searched the entire thread but I haven't seen an answer to this:
For me iRiverter is just stuck on "gathering information" .

I've tried: big files, small files, every format of video I have, default paths, my own filenames, different bitrates, different sizes

I had 0.13 but went to the project page and downloaded 0.11 as everyone on the board seemed to like that version. 0.11 just freezes completely for me.

If anyone else has had a similar problem, please throw some advice this way,
Thanks.

I'm running XP on a P4 2.0 ghz.

for now try the 0.13 it should be the more stable...
then.. have you some strange antivirus ro similar thing runnig in the background?
are there some strange characters in the folder name or in the file name? try putting your files in in folder called "test" in c and see if it works.
nothing else comes into my mind.. try the above for now

Congratulation, you made it: The first 210 MB is the original file (which is too big) whereas the .part(x) files are the splitted files. I have checked by Iriviter play option (Iriviter is able to play the 210 MB file ....)

Result: the 210 MB file and the .part1 file show the same start sequence of the Movie !!!

You're the GOD - Thanks

Regards

thanks Bitmastro, a good suggestion. I'm actually running a Korean version of Windows, and perhaps the program didn't recognize the han-geul characters.
There's no way around this unfortunately, unless I re-install English windows which I can't as I need the keyboard recognition for Korean.

I wonder if other non-English versions of Windows have the same problem?

Resizing subtitles

You can aproach the subjetc by two easy programs. First use subrip to open the subtitle archive and save it as *.srt. After that use "srt2ssa" converter. Whith this program you can easily edit the subtitle and give them the color, font type, enlarge them.......
After that open de video file with virtualdub or virtualdubmod and click on video>filters: add averylee subtitler filter (it is not loaded by default so perhaps you´ll have to download it) and use you archive.ssa. Convert to avi with the specifications for iriver h300 or whit any specifications you lijke and then use iriverter (best option). And it´s done.

Anyways...MSV how is trying to fix the unstable Mencoder for Windows coming along?

Problems splitting with iriverter

Hi, I´m new at this iriver thing (but I´ve been dealing with video encoding for a coupe of years)....I started making videos with virtualdub ´cause I am used to , but I CAN´T make a good audio sync (never happened before). So I´ve started using iriverter; it´s a wonderful program and I got to see my videos in my H340.
The only problem is that I can´t use the avis that iriverter splits, because they shut my explorer off...I´ve tried everything to no result. I split the avi whith virtualdub and I got to see my videos but I´d like to know whats the problem...

any idea?

Thanks to everybody, specially to MrStaticVoid

Great job MSV. I´m downloading it right now. I´ll try to use tonight. I hope it will solve the problems with the splitting (the split videos turn off the microsoft explorer) . I read that is a kind of imcompatiblity whit divx 6.0...)No problems with encoding though I have to split it with virtualdub in "direct stream copy")

Thanks again.

Reducing Audio/video Sync problems

I´ve read all the posts but I don´t remember if someone said something about this. I´ve encode with iriverter 14 a couple of star trek enterprise episodes from a dvd, and I got the audio/video sync problem. I have repeated the process but doing it from de avi files of those episodes that I have in my computer and I don´t get any sync problem at all.

Could it be a solution (somewhat long one) to the sync problem? Does it make any sense?
