Iriverter works fine now. Very impressive. You are an excellent developer, of that there's no mistake.
I'll be picking up my H340 from the post office this afternoon, it'll be fun to try the video player out once I flash the Korean firmware onto it (Yeah, it's an EU model but I'm not using sissy European firmware =P) I can see now why people use such high bitrates. I don't know why, but it seems that bitrates make damn little difference to the size of the actual video, but plenty to the quality. I'm probably being an ungrateful bastardage, but any chance of being able to specify other video sizes in future versions? I've been wanting a decent video transcoding GUI frontend since I switched to Linux (God how I miss Virtualdub!). Previously I had to use FFMPEG (the least user-hostile of the CLI transcoders) and suffer the appalingly bad audio MUXing. Your use of mencoder appears to eliminate that bug. |

I have iriverter 0.09 working well on Linux, but using the same command line with 0.10, i.e.
java -Djava.library.path=. -jar iriverter.jar I get a load of java errors like these Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDef FoundError: org/eclipse/swt/events/SelectionListener at java.lang.ClassLoade r.defineClass0(Nativ e Method) at java.lang.ClassLoade r.defineClass(ClassL oader.java:539) at java.security.Secure ClassLoader.defineCl ass(SecureClassLoade r.java:123) at java.net.URLClassLoa der.defineClass(URLC lassLoader.java:251) at java.net.URLClassLoa der.access$100(URLCl assLoader.java:55) at java.net.URLClassLoa der$1.run(URLClassLo ader.java:194) at java.security.Access Controller.doPrivile ged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoa der.findClass(URLCla ssLoader.java:187) at java.lang.ClassLoade r.loadClass(ClassLoa der.java:289) at sun.misc.Launcher$Ap pClassLoader.loadCla ss(Launcher.java:274 ) at java.lang.ClassLoade r.loadClass(ClassLoa der.java:235) at java.lang.ClassLoade r.loadClassInternal( ClassLoader.java:302 ) I am using jre 1.4.2 on Mandrake. I am really sorry if this is already somewhere in this thread, but geese its long!! How long is it taking you guys to rip DVDs, such as episodic ones (like simpsons, or Family Guy)? The other nite, I swear it only took me like a few minutes to rip an episode now it says 90 mins for one episode??? I have a pretty new DVD burner/reader...any suggestions?
edit** like 30 frames per sec, is this normal..I thought I was getting 100+ the other nite? |

Is there anyway of boosting the volume on converted videos? Much in the same way mp3gain works. I know about the normalising of the audio but it makes the audio distorted and with popping sounds.

DVD's convert perfectly, but almost always have a few seconds missing between the 2 sections. It's not always noticeable, but sometimes it skips important parts of a speech, at which time you can't miss it. |

This is a great program
However when I tried to convert an avi file with name in Korean, the program hung on reading input video. Any chance of making this program unicode compatible? Pretty please...

Once again (didn't get any answer last time): Will there be support for subtitle files in the future? And if so, is it coming soon (within a few releases) or will it take longer? For me, iRiverter is a great program, but close to useless if it can't handle subtitles.

Splitting tries to divide the videos in half directly. A few seconds may be missing because mencoder tries finding the nearest keyframe to split around. I guess I can have it overlap a bit to avoid this problem.
xradman, iriverter is unicode compatible, its MPlayer that isn't. Nothing I can do. mysticum, I really wanted to add this code into the gui, but I was taking too much time and wanted to release 0.10. As a way for me to justify this I added the "Extra Options..." option where you can manually pass mencoder options. You can specify a VobSub file in the Extra Options: Quote:
You can also specify the subtitles from an ogm or mkv with "-slang en", "-slang jp", etc... This is only temporary.

I have a problem with the iriverter,

Linux users,
java -cp iriverter.jar:swt.ja r -Djava.library.path=. net.sourceforge.iriv erter.ConverterUI It's only temporary. Eclipse decided to go editing my files Real people, for converting Real Videos, you need to unpack http://ftp5.mplayerhq.hu/mplayer/rel...050115.tar.bz2 to the place that you have iriverter installed. Coke, what bitrates are you using?
