told you i'd be back...i don't know whats wrong...Whenever i put in my DVD (and it's like this with everyone ive tried) , i go to the dvd tab, the top left-hand box says d:/ the box below says title but has nothing in its drop down list and i am not allowed to choose any other option then the ones already there for the other fields. I still tried to select a file but when clicking on convert nothin happends. Just like the button wasn't actually there lol....any ideas this time?

Excellent program. I just converted The Usual Suspects in less then 15 minutes. I had a question though: the video file is too long to play on my iRiver right now, and I don't like the way programs randomly split up the movie files. I like to split them up myself, so that it doesn't load the next part of the movie during a really good scene. I'm looking for a way to cut the clip while keeping the quality of the video exactly how it is. How would I do that?

For instance, a Cowboy Bebop dvd I just ripped, the feature starts on title 3, not title 1. So I had to select that or else I would have just ripped some of the meaningless junk that is in title 1.

Edit: Sorry for posting three times in a row. I didn't expect to be answering 3 questions when I started. Is it correct procedure to post once for each problem/user or to make one large post?

dtlr,
are you getting that message when you try and watch it in windows media player, or on the actual iriver...cuz only like five out of 30 chapters (from Top Gun) will actually play...and i dont see how you could get that kind of message on the iriver...so i'd just copy it over anywho..it usually works.. if all else fails...(SORRY MRSTATCVOID) try the drag and drop program...it syncs very well

Hey sorry, not iRiverter related, but MrStaticVoid, do you know who Eva_Unit_0 is? I've seen his name around and he uses the same icon as you...

Mac OSX (10.2.8) user iriverter 0.08 Java 1.4
Just wondering if any other Mac users have had problems encoding DVD's from external DVD drives. I have the drive appear in the drop down menu, but title is none and I cannot select any other, for chapters, none appear. Sometimes, if I just accept the lack of track etc and press convert, it highlights the button and produces an empty folder on the desktop, like it is trying to do something.
I have tried ripping the DVD to the desktop and taking it from there with the same results. I have also tried single video to encode small .mov, .wmv and .mpg from the hard drive. It starts off looking at the file then an error message says that it is not supported. When I tried to do it through Directory, none of the files are selectable (greyed out) even though it is for 'All files'. All the files that were zipped and downloaded are in the same folder. Am i doing something obviously wrong here? Apart from that, congrats to MrStaticVoid for producing a piece of software which many people are finding vital. |

hi, i'm running linux, mandrake distro. I have used your program on windows, and it works like a charm, but as of yet, I've had no luck with linux. I have installed java, and mplayer, and yet, I can't get a file to convert. When I click the convert button, I recieve "An error occured while converting" and in the shell it only says
DEBUG--- Convert: mencoder /mnt/windows/Documents and Settings/Ross/Desktop/Good Eats - Season 7/Good Eats - S07E01 - Crustacean Nation III - Crabs [digitaldistractions].avi -o /home/ross/downloads/Good Eats - Season 7-h300/Good Eats - S07E01 - Crustacean Nation III - Crabs [digitaldistractions].h300.avi -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=400:max_bfra mes=0 -oac mp3lame -lameopts mode=2:cbr:br=128 -vf scale=220:165,expand =220:176,harddup -af volnorm,resample=441 00:0:2 -srate 44100 -ofps 10 thanks for your help in advance.

Sabor_Latino: Try opening a shell and typing mencoder. See what you get with that. And how did you install mplayer? Did you install it from source? Did you install it from a rpm?

Xabrophazon, I do not know who that is. I cropped my avatar out from a wallpaper I found.
Kiwi, I have only tested iriverter on 10.3 and it works. That is all I have access to (besides 10.1 and 10.2 servers with only shell access). The next version I am working on has been rewritten from scatch (what can I say...I just like to code) and I am testing it on OSX everystep of the way. It will fix the OSX issues. I suspect it will be out tomorrow or the day after. Sabor_Latino, make sure you have MPlayer 1.0pre6.

Which Mandrake are you using? I'm running 10.0 "Official," and MEncoder 1.0pre5-3.3.2 (from PLF), and it works fine.
|
|
|||
|
I'm using Mandrake 10.2 beta 2, but it shouldn't make a difference, the problem is with MPlayer.

Sabor_Latino, when you configure mplayer, pass the --enable-xvid option to the configure script, or if you ask nice enough, I'm sure riffraff will share his package.
