Problem!!! i dont know if this has already been adressed, this is such a big thread. When i convert a chapter from a dvd (south park movie) and i try to play it (with any media player) i just get audio, no video. also does anybody have a way of finding out which title the movie is actually on? (I think that this may be the source of my problem) i have win2K, so i cant use wmp10, and windvd wont tell me. Thanks!

I had the same problem with converting first CD of DivX Terminal. It's 57 min long and iriver said 'Not supported -skipping'. Second cd was 1h 5m lons - so iriverter split it nicely.
I think there's also a problem with size of splitted files. The first one was 214MB. When recording audio / voice, you can't record files bigger than 200MB. Maybe it's the same with videos. Maybe files cannot be bigger than 200MB (when I converted it with VD, the size was 160MB and it was played smoothly by iriver) Well anyway I'm just guessing the solution to this problem. Maybe some of you guys played files bigger than 200MB, than say anything but MrStaticVoid - great work on iriverter. |

Regarding sync issues with DVD rips w/iriverter (even on pc)
I convertered a chapter from a dvd.. the sound was about -700ms off.. so I just opened virtualdub audio > interleaving > audio skewing set to -700 save file as... the audio/video difference probably differes with each file/dvd you rip.. so try to find the best offset by trial-error.. I used built in audio delay feature of media player classic to find the difference and it was so easy and it was in synch when played on pc.. now this is no way a fix to the sycnh issue with the h3xx.. just the program.. |

I had the same issue occur when I had an incorrect version of Java installed.

Just got my my H340 2 days ago, flashed the FW to 1.27k, downloaded the iRiverter and now I'm able to watch video on this box. Amazing! Thanks for putting this together.
I'm fairly computer literate, but as a busy dad of a four month old don't have much time to figure out half a dozen progs for video ripping, converting encoding etc. - so this one comes in really handy. Which brings me to the point of my post: This prog could really serve as a one-stop-shopping solution for dvd-ripping/video encoding etc. If a tab (e.g. "advanced") would be added, that would allow for different resolutions (320 x 200 up to e.g 1280 x 1024) and higher frame rates, this would be all the video converting software I'd ever need. And should be easy to implement. What do you think? |

pillowmaster, if you want to view the videos in WMP, you have to install the Xvid codec. I don't know where you can get it but I'm sure Google does
leberwurst, that would indeed not be to hard to implement, but the name of the program is iriverter. Even if that stuff was in an advanced tab I KNOW I would get about a thousand instant messages and private massages a day asking why their videos won't play when they have some strange resoultion or framerate set. Blah. y0shi, I'll have to look into that problem more. Too bad I don't have any videos like 58 or 59 minutes long. Even if I did I know from experince that mine can play videos up to 100 minutes in length. *shrugs* Emre, I don't like the idea that some people would need another program to solve the sync. I borrowed my roommates "Beverly Hills Cop" movie (it's the only one I have to test with) and using the chapter mode revealed extreme sync issues similar to the ones you speak of. I think I've actually solved the problem pretty well, but having only one DVD to test with isn't a good thing. *** So if there are some people out there that would please test a sort-of intermediate release that would be awesome! *** Open the folder whereever you installed iriverter and replace "iriverter.jar" with the one from here. Then run it however you usually do (i.e. from the start menu) and test away. Specifically I would like to know how the DVD (both full DVDs and single chapters) sync differs from the last versions. It would also be nice to know if the single video sync has changed. To those curious about what I changed, I changed the codec used from ffmpeg to xvid and it seems in my limited testing to have improved the a/v sync. If people report improved sync, then I will release 0.08 officially with the changes, but if people report worse sync, then I will revert the change and all will be right with the world again.

Out of 4 dvds I tried with the new version, single chapters only
1 of them was perfect and the rest were only off by a little (300ms or so) but still a bit annoying nonetheless (I'm a bit picky) This new version is definitely an improvement Last edited by Emre : February 10th, 2005 at 04:12 PM. |

For those of you who want to use iriverter's converting technology to convert to other formats please go to the following page:
http://mewig.sourceforge.net/ It is a frontend to the mencoder program which iriverter uses. And if you are an advanced user, go to the following page: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/mencoder.html |

I whipped up a quick website for iriverter at http://iriverter.sourceforge.net. It is a work in progress.

MSV,
I threw together a logo for iRiverter this afternoon, as you put out a call for graphics a while ago. Let me know what you think. I won't be offended if you don't want to use it, but if you do, then by all means. EDIT: Decapitalizing the "R" is not a problem.

The software works great!
Just a quick question, I'm ripping Flying Daggers right now (my first DVD rip) and the only option I see is that it'll create one avi file for each chapter. There's 13 chapters. Can the software rip it as one or two avi so I don't have to load chapter by chapter? It'll be much easier if I can just have two or three avi to load. BTW - the video on the dvd rip is AWSOME but I'm getting hissing on the audio!! Thanks. |
