welll now, didnt work out, i went select all chapter (simpsons) and it completed really fast and it created one video of the simpsons

I'm a little confused. If I just tell it to convert a dvd to one file (all chapters) Will it still split the file - if so, how long an interval? Would it be possible to include an option to choose the split time, or does menoder not allow this?

Also, if you cancel the video half way through, is it exactly like it should be or does mencoder add stuff at the end of video conversion. Mine didn't play but Nero Showtime is an ass and i'm not certain. Another annoying feature request, sorry, but would it be possible to include an abort that left a working file? (if not still keep up the amazing work MSV!)

i'm having a little trouble: but nothingng i can't fix, i think.

first off when i clicked convert, the drive goes crazy. i've had this happen before, and it's two programs fighting over the drive.

using Ctrl Alt Del, i see mplayer has two running, and i close both. i click convert and one comes back.

so problem solved.

other problem; partially through my convertion it says mencoder has come across an error and has to close. it was only 3 min or so i lost, so i just started re-encoding.

i'm not sure if this will come back tho... problem avioded for now.

EDIT:

i've watched it more carefully. It's happening as once the first chapter is converted (100%) it says mencoder error.

i'll be trying things to get it working, it's prob. my computer.

it's probably because i had a : in the file name.
could a warning pop up when you put an invalid file name in the output file?

it is because i had the : in there. i changed it to a - and now it's good.
a warning is needed, or at least text near the output text place saying which ones don't work.


just giving some info in case other people have these problems.

if this wasn't there, i'd have to wait for my long DVD (3 hours) to convert fully before finding out i put an invalid file name. because of the chapter-as-a-diff-file, it was only 6 minutes to realize it.

Also, a quick question, has the bitrate thingy changed?
I put in 322kbps (because i believe that H300s can only play 450kbps INCLUDING the audio) but most of the time the window tells me the bitrate is 240 or 250 is this normal? does mencoder just use a lower bitrate most of the time?

Now for my next suggestion:

Add a field so we can specify when to splice the video file. (Instead of 60min/splice we can specify (e.g. 10min/splice))

I will not add an option for configurable split times. iriverter is meant to be very simple. Most people do not need to change where it splits movies. I don't want to think about all of the people who would IM me saying something went wrong because they split it strangely.

alienshards, ':' is a valid character on the various Linux filesystems, while it not allowed on Windows, so I won't add a warning. You'll just have to be smart about that one.

Dr Spoon, XviD does not encode with a constant bitrate. If you specify one, you are just giving it an average to stay around, but it does not have to.

this program freezes when i instert a DVD.
i have to ctrl+alt+del to end the program
then ctrl+alt+del again to close mplayer
then i have to reboot and go thru it all over again.


works for my videos tho, cept a few are outta sync so now i gotta figure out virtualdub =\

i have a DVD that's in data tracks... is there a way iriverter can read them? i keep getting an error.

Ive converted S.W.A.T. off a DVD, and set the language to Default once, and it wasnt english. I also redid it in "1. EN" ( im assuming means english). Both times it came up in french (i think it was french, definaetly not english tho.). I might just be stupid...?

Well you can add a "advanced options" area for the split times. (Just suggestion, might help those with sync problems)

Another thing that has come to my attention is video encoded with the matroska wrapper does not include subtitles when it is transcoded. I'm not sure how you can fix this but I'm sure mencoder has some kind of subtitle support for matroska. (You can maybe tell it to default to the first avaliable subtitle if not specified.)

Anyway, I know subtitle support might be a little hard to support but its something to think about I guess. I have a lot of videos that have integrated subtitles (.mkv) and external subtitles. (vobsub)

I appologize if this has been posted before but when I go to convert my RM files the program often leaves me with an AVI file that is missing a portion of the original file.(Original 22 mins , new file 13?) Is there anyway to fix this?

i have downloaded the iriverter all worked great tried to convert futurama and worked well but have a comentary from the makers over the top of the audio could have some help please

When selecting your ripping options, choose another audio track. The one you selected has the directors comments on it, the other(s) won't.

Are you sure your RM file is not a streaming video? If it is it'll be weird.

I saved the RM files from a website and they play offline, so I dont think thats streaming.

When i try to set output directory CREATE NEW FOLDER function doesnt work in my documents directory, everywhere else it is alright and works, but i save converted video only just to documents...

but it is not important, i can make a new folder manually,
