[Q] What is "AutoPlay" and how do I disable AutoPlay?
Answer AutoPlay is a windows feature that automatically executes a program when you insert a cd-rom or connect a drive like the iRiver to your computer. When plugged in, you are probably greeted with a prompt of "What program do you want to use?". This explains how to turn that off, there are several methods. 1. After connecting your iRiver to your computer via the USB cable, hold down the shift key. This stops anything from executing. 2. This method disables AutoPlay completely. While your iRiver is connected, go to "My Computer". You should see an icon that says 'H300' for you iRiver. Right-Click it, and select 'Properties'. A dialog with 5 tabs should pop up, click the one that says 'AutoPlay'. Now, there is a combo box with 4 types of content in it, Music Files, Pictures, Video Files, and Mixed Content. Right below this, you should see a list of actions, and buttons, "Select an action to perform", and "Prompt me each time...". Under each of the content headings(Music Files, Pictures, etc.), click the "Select an action" button, then scroll down to the icon where it says "Take No Action". Click it, and then click the "Apply" button down at the bottom of the dialog. After you have done this with all 4 headings, you are set and can click 'OK'. No more AutoPlay!
