Maybe now is a good time for Rockbox? There is a free program, GiPO Moveonboot, that deletes hard to delete files during reboot...I used it once and it worked fine.
If it were me, I would reformat DAP, load up Rockbox, and start having some fun...by the way, I'm lovin' my E250...what kind of battery are you getting? I'm around 10-12 hours with RBox and 192 VBR MP3s...

I haven't done an actual battery test yet, but I estimate I'm getting close to 18 hours, even w/192 VBR mp3s....
I figured a reformat was the answer...as may be RB....

Well...the bugger won't reformat. I get the following error message: "The device was unable to complete the format."
Ideas? I deleted all the files (after backing them up, of course), then tried the reformat. EDIT: I think the problem is due to the FW upgrade.... It now won't copy any other files I'm...auditioning.... Rockbox it and fook 'em? EDIT (AGAIN!): Now it's telling me some of the files I backed up are corrupted and can't be transferred. These are rips from CDs I own, so no danger of auditioned tracks being corrupted. EDIT #3: Now it won't copy anything.... Apparently all my files are corrupted, even those from my H320 backup. Jebus.... EDIT #4: Possibly sorted.... EDIT #5: SORTED!!!! ...cuz I know you were all worried sick!

Thirded!
C'mon BBD! You talked Coreman into buying a Sansa E2xx. What if he runs into the same problem some day and you never posted the solution? He would have to retract that big sappy 'thank you' he posted just for you. |

Honestly, I didn't post a solution cuz I'm not sure it was anything I did. But, here goes:
On the fourth attempt, I deleted everything I could, then did a hard reset by holding the menu button down for 45 seconds (not the 15 as suggested in the manual). I left it connected, then ran a complete scan including connected drives (Results: 45 suspect items--unusually high). After that, it reformatted just fine and I was able to copy over everything I had on it before. It was late, otherwise I woulda posted all that.

Well I had this same exact problem, and found this page via search engine. I tried doing the 45 second reset thing and it didn't work, but I found another way.
I went into the config menu on the player and set the USB mode to MSC. Once you connect it to your computer, reformat the device by right clicking on it from My Computer. I was trying to reformat it in MTP mode, which should work, but wasn't for some reason. |
