n00b to Rockbox - locked up, and a question
So I've had my H320 for nearly 3 years now. It went for a long time not getting much use, but my office recently moved farther from my house a couple months back, and so now my H320 sees daily use in my car.
So I finally took the plunge and installed Rockbox last night. From what I can tell, this thing is absolutely fantastic! The amount of customization I can do to almost everything is just beyond cool (I'm the kind of person who likes to tweak with just about everything I own). I did have a bit of an issue this morning. When I booted up RB to play in my car for my morning commute, the song it was on before started playing automatically. Then I tried to press the Left button to skip back to the previous song, and the thing just locked up. It sat in the seat for the next 30 minutes with the LCD and backlight on the entire time, until I could get to work to get something to fit into the Reset hole. So is that some kind of bug? Should I report anything to the Rockbox website, or is there any other way of finding out what happened? Also, is there any way to go from the WPS, directly to the current song playing in the file tree, similar to what the stock H3xx firmware does? I'd like to be able to skip to a different song in the same folder as the current song that is playing, without having to navigate through a ton of folders to find what folder I'm already in.

If you don't want your iriver to automatically resume the song that was playing when you turned your player off, there is an option somewhere in the settings to turn auto-play on start up off. Sorry, I don't have my iriver with me at the moment so I don't know where exactly in the menu system the option is. Also in settings, find the option called "Follow Playlist" and that should fix your problem.

Activate follow playlist, it is the option you were searching for. Everything Rockbox plays is on a (in this case automatically generated) playlist.
Settings>General Settings>File View>Follow Playlist |

What you want, for it to start playing automatically, is to set the Start Screen to Now Playing.
As for the freezes, it *shouldn't* be freezing, and anyone who tells you "it just does that" is not being particularly helpful. If you can reproduce the freeze with an OFFICIAL, CURRENT build, file a bug report. We can't fix freezes and problems if people don't report them. |

But I'll glady take the occasional freeze with the extra features that the unofficial builds provide. A player freeze once a week isn't so bad when you carry a paperclip around.
