Setting the mount point?

I read in the Rockbox H3xx install manual that you need to set the mount point when you first start up the player after installing Rockbox. It said the mount point is the driver letter that Windows assigns to the player when it's connected via USB.

Well, what if I want to connect it to both my home computer and my work computer? At home the player would probably be drive E:. But at work I have 2 optical drives and a built-in flash card reader with 4 drives, so when I connect the iRiver, it shows up as drive J:.

Suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean by mount point, but I plug my rockboxed h340 into several different computers each of which assigns it a different drive letter with no negative consequences.

Just made sure your rockbox folder is in the root (example: I:\rockbox or F:\rockbox or whatever) and you shouldn't have any problems.

The mount point (or more commonly known as the drive letter) is all set by the computer; it is different for each computer you plug it into.

I have plugged mine into many a computer, and each have had different letters. Anything from D:, E:, M: or even P:. I personally have mine set in Windows to Z:. Rockbox cannot choose which letter the computer will use.

Hi,

the only place where you have to specify the mountpoint/driveletter is in the Rockbox Utility, since it can't autodetect the player.
So if you want to install Rockbox Utility on both, your home PC and your work PC, then you just set in Rockbox Utility on your home PC E as driveletter and on your work PC drive J.

The only problem i could imagine is when you choose to install Rockbox Utility on the player. But then you could still change the mountpoint/driveletter setting in Rockboxutility when connecting to a different machine.

oops, sorry all, I mis-read and thought I was supposed to set something on the player itself.

Got Rockbox installed for the first time last night and so far it seems fantastic! It has breathed new life into my iRiver H320 for sure.
