mixin's New York WPS

New York. The oldest city in the world, the only city running on 100% green energy, the only major city with a negative figure carbon footprint and the birthplace of fuzzy the 6 legged rabbit.

I've had some ideas in my head for a while now and been working on some alternative ideas for WPSs. After a couple of hours blasting away at photoshop, I've come up with this that I rather like. Now if/when i implement this, it's not for the faint hearted (fortunatly not on an 'alejandro - Screaming Oranges' level). It has album art support, but all your album art images will need modifying. You'll see why if you look below.

The design:

Parts:

Album - Artist - Track

Battery power in 10% increments

Volume, probably in 5dB increments. Might even change it to a %

My favourite bit - Album art.

As you can see the album art isn't at all straight or all there and has a bit of advertising covering the bottom, so all your album art images will need to be modified to make them fit properly. I may or may not make an action file for photoshop so people can do their own if there's demand. All really depends on whether I ever get round to finishing this off.

Just thought I'd post my progress because this design is a bit different from everything else that I've seen, WPS-wise.

I agree! This looks so complex but so cool. I had to post, it is really sweet.
It makes me wish I had a H3xx.

oh snap! this is cool, I like it!

Now, if you want over 2000 color variations you know who to call... lol. Just kidding.

Seriously though, very nice. The only problem, as you said, is that album art.

Frankly, the whole WPS doesn't look that complex to make save for that album art thing.

I hope you resolve on doing it... very nice!

One question though: anything you can do with the taxi's window? Seems to take up a whole lot of space to just be there doing, well, nothing... though I have no idea what I'd do with it myself.

Animate the taxi window with the "Next up" information. Have the window slide down, and upon sliding up again, it shows more or changing info. Whatcha think ? Granted, I don't even know if this is possible, it just sounds cool though. Nice work man...

Okay, here's version 0.1:

TSwps0.1.zip (171kb)

At the mo, the battery and the volume meters should work and the artist, album and track should appear on the taxi advertising thinghy.
I've only tested this with norbusan's lastest multi build, so chances are high it won't work properly on other versions

hey i have worked a little on this theme for poting it to the H10[20GB], its a beautiful concept , would like to develop it with co-operation of the author further, here is the screenshot of what i have resized n recoded , i seek permission to officially launch it for the H10's under Angryman's builds for the H10,it has scrolling Artist n Title Since H10 has a small LCD , it also serves the purpose like the real Advertisements on Taxi's

Sure go for it, I'm more than happy for people to port this to other players. Bear in mind that I'm still working on this WPS, so there'll no doubt be updates to it in the next couple of weeks.

I'm hoping the unreadability of the volume and battery figures is just because of jpeg compression in that screenshot?

I've uploaded the the current version's PSD (photoshop document) to my website, so if you have photoshop you can play around with resizing it all to fit the smaller resolution of the H10. It can be found here:
