recording - how toż

recently i tried to do some recordings (the very first time) in the jungle but failed and had to use the original recording function.

i set it to mp3, 160kb, 44khz and to split after 15mb. but instead of 15mb recording my h330 created tiny xxx kbyte files every 5seconds (even when i the prerecodring time to zero) whats wrong, how do i it?

does somebody know how many mbytes can be recorded before the disk spins up and cause annoying noises due missing external microfone...

Are you sure you didn't set the split option to time instead of file size?

How long you can record before the HDD spins depends on the format options you use... I believe the buffer is something like 30mb (wild guess!), so if you record to a low bitrate mp3 you can record for a long time before there's a spin-up.

i tried both options (time set to 24:00 (minutes i guess) with the same result: it created tiny files (300kb) every few seconds

What build are you using and how old is it? If you are using a patched build, have you tried using the official? Try the latest official build and see if the problem persists.

Why do you split the files so small anyway? Any particular reason? Come to think of it, the reason why I haven't had this problem might be because I never use the splitting option... I always process and split my files on the computer using Audacity. That way I always get the files exactly the way I want them.

I'll check later if I can reproduce the bug...

Uh... Yes you did. In you initial post you wrote that you wanted to split them after 15 mb...

Just did a test with the build I have installed (official build r13248-070423), the same parameters as you mention in your original post, and there was no problem... Was your build earlier or later than the 23 of April?

And I love PortableApps! I have and use Gimp, Firefox, Audacity, VLC and OpenOffice on a (fairly) regular basis...

Update: Updated to the latest build (r13354-07050, used the same recording options and it works flawlessly... If you've updated to the latest build and still have this problem, have you tried doing a reset (press the record button while rockbox is starting)?
