Surround Sound on H320?

Hi!

I am listening to Blue Man Group right now. I know that they also have a Surround-DVD. So i figured out, that a mp3 format supports also more then 2 stereo channels. Since our H3x0 has 2 stero outpouts, it could play dolby surround 4.0?

Nope, it probably wouldn't have the power to decode that many channels, and there's only one stereo output from the thingy-ma-bobby into a two-channel DAC and two-channel amp. The line-out gets the same signal as the headphone out, just the line-out bypasses the internal amp.

You could probably get a 5.1 signal out of the optical output of an H1xx if you encode it as a dolby digital wave file or similar and use a suitable decoder.
As DD says - the H3xx outputs differ only in the fact that the line-output bypasses the internal headphone amp, so you can't get >2 channel output from the H3xx.
