[WPS] problem with 84 levels volume display

Hi,

I have a little problem: I wanted to use the volume tag (%pv) to the max, so instead of the usual 10 bars I wanted to show all 84 volume positions. Because there are only 52 images allowed and because you can only load an image on one particular position, I needed to improvise and use text to display a bar.

I thought it could easily be done by using a code somewhat similar to this:

(I use the norbu multifont build and the font used for this part is the HelvR8 )
I turned out that it's not possible to use calculations in your WPS. So, because that didn't work, I needed to do it the big way, like this:

As you can see: that's an awful lot of code, which means that the file would become over 10,000 bytes, a lot bigger than the 1600 bytes allowed for a full working WPS. So this option doesn't (fully) work either.

So, my question to you all is: is there a way to let a bar be shown (at a lower position if the volume is low, and at a higher if the volume is high), while keeping the code small? Or is it even possible to use one image at different positions?

What you are wanting to do is not really possible. However, there is a way of shortening your code (i think):

But I dont see how a display like that can be practical as it will go off the edge of the screen... Maybe use half of the potential increments. The code above goes up to 30 |'s and is 952 bytes already. (did it quickly so sorry if its not quite perfect, it works fine on my simulator though). Ignore the dodgy word wrapping, the forum did it.

maybe someone could make a new patch which uses 3 pictures for a volume-display:
one for "mute" (-80), one for "max" (0) and one for all the rest, which is used just like the progress-bar (1px size for -79dB, image-size minus 1px for -1dB)

It seems that I have to wait for some patches. In the meanwhile I'll use 21 different levels, which can be done by images.
