Just an idea,
If we could load an image to be used on top of the text it would open the doors to all different kinds of text effects. From transparency to gradients.. or transparent gradients. Colors could be changed in the wps' without having to use the multifont patch. Photoshop effects that you avoid while designing wps' could be used (difference, color burn, multiply.. nothing that needs to trace the font, though) Here is a quick example i threw together, it isn't that great, but it demonstrates some of the possibilities. ![]() What do you think? |

Very interesting idea... and it's definitely possible. After all, a similar (if not the same) technique is used for the bmp progress bar. I don't know though, it may be tricky to combine this with the font rendering code but nevertheless it's definitely worth to get implemented (if it's not so CPU intensive).
I suggest to add this as a feature request in the tracker at rockbox.org Don't forget to upload the mockups you made, too. |

Added to Flyspray.
Hopefully someone will pick this up. (I'm going to try, but there's a 2% chance of it working) |
