I think my H340 hard drive is totally F(&(*@!

I am really bummed I changed my battery a couple months back and my player worked great - now this!

Here is what happens - maybe someone can help me!

Rockbox Mode - Player powers up, says Rockbox bootloader
version 5 batt 4V - then freezes. Sometimes I get ATA error; -1 Insert USB cable and press a button. I have had it with a USB cable in it read Bootloader USB mode. Nothing shows up in My Computer - Drive does not read.

Regular mode: it reads check HDD connection. When screen comes up all reads 0 for folders. Hardrive does not come up at all on My Computer.

Is this the end of my player?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I fixed my player. I thought I would share what happen: When I changed the battery I think the hard drive was put under more pressure, as the new battery was bigger. Perhaps after a few knocks the pressure on the hard drive caused it the stop spinning. I opened UP the player, disconnected and the reconnected the hard drive, this started the hard drive working, until I put the unit back together. The answer finally was leaving a side screw out, to offer more interior space, that the hard drive would not have too much pressure against. Short story: It worked, I hope this helps someone who might have the same problem.

Well, it looks like the hard drive just kicked it's last breath does anyone know where to order a replacement hard drive for the H340?

Does iriver make another player that is compatible with windows 2000, that has a similar portable hard drive format like the h340, if not just one compatible with windows 2000?

Thanks in advance!

iriver no longer make any 40gb hdd players but the mistic iriver store offers HDD replacements for H3xx

otherwise a little searching gets you [Q] Is it possible to upgrade the hard drive in my 3xx series player?

As for the windows 2000 compatible, wouldn't any DAP work as long as you have the appropriate drivers?
