album art issue..

I was using rockbox everything was working fine then i updated the rockbox with kosh's build and now no album art appears and its off the lines and text...any advice?

hey thanks for responding. To tell you the truth i realy dont remember the old version i was using . I know it was KOSH'S build thogh. I would say like a month ago...I like using the iCatcher's WPS's....that is what i have been using.

Yes, the tags and stuff have been updated, so some wps's don't work anymore. They need to be updated.

Open the wps file with a text editor (Notepad would do this fine), and alter this line:
%C|5|30|100|100| to %Cl|5|30|s100|s100|
and at the end of the file (in it's own line) add this:
%C

Save the changes and reload the wps. Hope it helps

I have exactly the same problem. My last version of Rockbox was from the beginning of September and I've just downloaded Rockbox Experimental 2.9.35. My favourite WPS is UniCatcher-MisticBlc. I made the changes described above but I am getting breakthough of the misticriver revolving globe through the middle of the album art, so there's obviously something I have missed. Can anyone help please?

Ok thanks. How do i get that one character that look like a "a straight line" I just looked all over on my keyboard. Wow this is very new to me.

The straight character that looks like a line is the letter L in lower case.

I had the same issue some people have it showing as the number 1 but it is a lower case letter L.

The item in bold in this second reference, however, is the straight line found in the same key on your keyboard as the "backwards slash" key, or "\" which is above the "Enter" key.

Needless to say, you have to press shift to use it.

Except on a UK (& European?) keyboard, when it's on the bottom left, between the "Z" and shift keys.

I still haven't figured out why this fix works for the iCatcher but not the UniCatcher WPSs.

I have tried editing the code and most of it works thanks! However i'm not getting things lined up with the iCatcher and that is one my favs...

Also is there way to change the code for all at once or something?

What is not lining up on iCatcher for you, rivers? It seems to be working fine for me.

Regarding your second point, rivers, I guess you could create a macro to make the same change to each WPS. You'd still have to open each one individually. Since I only ever use a couple of WPSes, I haven't bothered with any of the others.

My problem is with UniCatcher-MisticBlc, which I prefer because the font is much easier to read. Imagine a concentric square about half the size of the album art window. Outside that you see the album art, inside it you can see the misticriver revolving globe. It's the same with UniCatcher-MisticRvr.

@Agincourt: I think I know what's wrong with the MisticRiver iCatcher versions. I don’t use myself the new album art patch (and btw, I hope for a soon album art implementation in CVS so things will finally get standardized on that) so I cannot test this, but It seems from your description that the new album art patch places the album art bmp behind other bmps while it was the opposite with the old one.

Here’s what to do:

Open the .wps file with a text editor and find the longest line. The line looks like this:

%?mp<%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.1%xda|%al%t0.1%xdj>;%?mp<%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.3%xdb|%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.1%xdb|%al%t0.1%xdi>;… blahblah

Now, you only have to disable the spinning globe bmps when album art is present. To do this simple add this in every subline:

%?C<|%?mp...>;

Try not to mess things up with the sublines. Each subline ends at “;”

After you finish with that, the long line should look like this:

%?C<|%?mp<%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.1%xda|%al%t0.1%xdj>>;%?C<|%?mp<%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.3%xdb|%al%t0.3%xda|%al%t0.1%xdb|%al%t0.1%xdi>>;… blahblah

Save the changes and reload the wps.

Please let me know if this makes things work again for you...

Thanks for the advice, Yngwiejo. It's kind of worked. The album art is fine now, but when I play a track with no album art there's a magenta square in exactly the same place. It doesn't cover the whole of the album art window, just the part occupied by the revolving globe. Also, the iCatcher WPSs are fine; it's only the UniCatcher WPSs I'm having problems with.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's a problem with the size of the WPS. I remember you saying when you first produced these WPSs that they were restricted by the limitation on WPS size. Since the Unifont is about 10 times the size (in memory terms) of any of the others, could this have something to do with it?

Hmm...So, the iCatcher MisticRiver versions work fine and the UniCatcher MisticRiver don't? Very strange... AFAIK, the font is loaded into RAM, too but has nothing to do with the WPS buffer which is fixed size.

The old album art patch stored the album art bmp in the WPS buffer. The problem was that the MisticRiver version required almost all the WPS buffer so there wasn't room for the album art bmp to get loaded and shown up. A WPS buffer extension was needed for the album art to work. This was the case for both iCatcher & UniCatcher.

However, the new album art patch does not use the WPS buffer (correct me please if this is not the case) so this extension isn't needed anymore.

I'm really puzzled of what is the problem on this... So the iCatcher MR versions worked fine before (even without the "%?C<|%?mp...>" thing) ???

yeah i deleted my .rockbox folder and loaded up the latest new Kosh's build. All my iCatchers are off except all the mistic river ones. They work perfect. I find it strange. Is the font not good or do i need a new font package or something.

I can try to describe what im seeing here: Over the song title and tag info i see the MP3 icon and next to the left is the eq. (its covering i think 44hrtz...or whatever. then the volume on top is actually on the line, so that is not in the right spot. Bottom...its the same its not fitting correctly in the box at all.

I hope this helps i have no idea. when i load the MisticBlack or Mistic Iriver its perfect...

Take a picture and/or paste a wps file you have problems with. Like this we can check it, it's too difficult to do figuere out what you mean. I think you just made a mistake correcting your files. Post them here and we can check them.

is it something seperate from rockbox? If so then no. Just the main rockbox zip...
