Which Build Do You Use?

I just thought it would be interesting to see who uses what build of rockbox. i've tried to include all builds.

Comments as to why the particular build is used would be interesting.

I just thought this would be helpful to noobs who aren't sure of the way to go, and find kezza's thread a bit daunting to read.

I use Koch's build because I like all the bells and whistles that come with it.

P.S. While your intentions are good I think Kezza's thread speaks for itself.

i personally use the optimised (EDIT: Experimental) build, as i like all the extras, but it may be too unstable for some, i find it crashes sometimes after fiddling.

optimised or experimental?

optimised is not made any more and has been renamed to experimental.

yeah ok thats what i meant

took a bit of a trip down memory lane there (*sigh*)

o yeah if anyone is still using a needleboy build, i reckon that'd go under "other", although i doubt whether anyone is after the advancements in battery life since then.

I still have not voted as you have not got an option that says "I change my build almost every day"

I use norbusan's build at the moment, but I'm in the process of setting up my own environment so that I can start doing my own builds. I like the idea of picking and choosing my own patches and customising my own build, so that I include only the things that I want/need.

I only use the Norbusan build now. The Experimental build was too...."experimental " for me, and was constantly crashing at times, which was a real pain in the ass for me. Not to mention I hardly, if ever, used most of hte plugins. Then norbu started compiling his own version, which was just what I needed since they included the patches i used and they only used what the people said to.

I dont think mine's very known yet as its so new. It'll be interesting to see what the split is... I know initially I would have gone for a much more 'full' build... but nowadays I just use the 'box for listening to music.

Currently, I am using the official Rock Box build as I am not interested in going for the fully loaded version. I was tempted to go with the minimal build and may do so at some point. I am still having difficulty in getting the flac files to be recognized and played.

I use norbusan's build at the moment, but i am planning to create my own build soon with a lower number of patches, mainly to allow most WPS's and some changes like NAVI=yes, etc.

I change every so often, maybe not daily, but every second day. Depends what mood I'm in, usually I just want to listen to music, so the Official ROCKbox Build does me fine most of the time

I use Kin242s Rox (Minimal build) - does exactly what it says on the tin - doesn't toast my bread for me, but plays music well. Still looks good and works with the H300 LCD Remote

my own build, CVS with:

Audioscrobbler
play button brings to WPS from menu
random album play
display '..' files
in WPS, REC brings to browser or context menu instead of NAVI

the random album thing is great.. have any of the other user builds jumped on that yet? j/w

Norbu's build. I don't care about bells & whistles nearly as much as I care about having a *consistent*, user-friendly interface. Thus, hitting left in the navigator should take you to the WPS if you're in the middle of playing a song. Pressing STOP to return to the WPS is completely, utterly non-intuitive.

This is part of a bigger gripe which should probably be taken to its own thread, but making Rockbox a "jack-of-all" apps is ludicrous considering the wide variety of UI's for the different platforms it's supposed to work under.
