Suggestion: playlist un-shuffling

How playlist and shuffle work now is this. Say I've got shuffle "on". I navigate to a particular song, and play it, and load that directory's contents, shuffled, into the playlist. But, whups! That's an album, and I prefer to listen to albums straight through. So I bring up the quick menu and left-arrow to change shuffle to "off". But that playlist I'm currently playing is... still shuffled. To do what I want, I have to hit stop to clear the playlist, navigate (from the root directory, grr) to my album, and select the first song again.

I'd rather that when it loads a playlist, it remembers the original, disc order of it AND the order it shuffled it into. Then, if I turn off shuffle, it starts playing in the original order, from the current song. Or, I suppose, you could just alphabetize the playlist contents by filename when shuffle is turned off. Either way, I wish that turning off shuffle would "unshuffle" the playlist

There are two ways that I can think of to accomplish what you want to do.

(1) Instead of loading a directory into the playlist using "Insert Shuffled," simply use "Insert," and then turn shuffle on to play the playlist. Turn shuffle off before inserting a new folder that you want played in order.

(2) Create the playlist that you want shuffled. Use the "reshuffle playlist" function to shuffle the playlist, but do not turn the shuffle function on when you play it because you've already shuffled the list. That way, when you insert a new folder, the inserted folder is in order.

Shuffle off > continue normal list i was wondering the same thing !!! When you put on follow playlist you will be able to shut down shuffle, when you press nav you will be in the directory wich plays the song you are currently listening to!!! Buttttttt i just want to be able to unshuffle !!!

Save your playlist before shuffling it. Then "unshuffling" the playlist is as easy as re-loading the saved list.

It doesn't? What does it do then? It's been unshuffling for many years. This must be a bug then.

ok i just did some testing and unshuffleing doesn't work anytime you create a playlist, turn shuffling on and then off.

But, unshuffleing does work if you select a file to play (which then automatically creates a playlist of the songs on the directory) then turn shuffling on and then off. turning it off restores the playlist to how it was originally ordered in the folder.

i guess that's kind of annoying, but it doesn't really matter since it's still easy to "unshuffle" by finding whatever album you want to be played and inserting it next in the shuffled playlist.

I was just about to post that. When you just have 1 folder in your playlist it does work. When i added an extra folder it didn't work anymore. So the basics are there, a little adjustment might do the trick!!!

No, my point is, selecting a file to play WHILE SHUFFLE IS ON results in an un-unshuffleable playlist.

It makes sense to me that the auto-playlist that springs into existence when you select a file would be shuffled, if shuffle is on. I just want it to unshuffle itself to disc-order if shuffle gets turned off. That's what doesn't happen.

no schwab002 is correct. When you select a song it does work. But as soon as you add another directory to your playlist the party is over!!!
