fade in/out lcd
i know this would be a fairly low priority for the dev's since it'd only be for aesthetics, but i think it would be really nice if you could fade out the lcd before it turns off. or can this already happen and i have just been looking in the wrong places on my h340 the past 30 min?
anyways i'm not even sure if it's possible, but the dimmer settings make me this it is. and i found this thread about the h1xx's having the feature: Anyone like the idea of a backlight fade in/out? the main reason i'd want the lcd to fade out is because i really hate when i'm looking at something or reading something on the screen and it immediately blacks out on me. the fading would be a nice warning to press a button so i can keep the lcd on. and of course it should be set up so you can turn the fade in/out off and on, and configure how long you want the fade to be. so what do you all think? |

i'm 99% positive this is impossible on the h300s due to hardware problems.

This was asked on the rockbox forum and the backlight hardware is different for the H100 and H300s =\
If i understood correctly the H300s lcd is connected directly to the power management chip and you only get the 2 -> 15 steps. The H100s can control thier PWM chip better than the 300s. I guess you could have it fade to 2 but if you go into the backlight brightness settings and hold left and right you'll notice its not a smooth fade. The guy who told me this said he would try and work on a backlight->low backlight->off effect like some cellphones have. Which would be just as good, maybe even better. yeah i figured it might be rough seeing how the different brightness settings work, but i would still rather have a stepwise fade out than have the lcd turn off immediately while i'm looking at something.
edit: thanks for replies and the link. Quote:
