Is there any reason why the notes are limited to 20 characters?
I'm writing a little java app for users of 30 boxes (http://30boxes.com) that will automatically download their current events list, wrangle it into RockCalendar format, and write it to the player (basically a one-way sync for those who prefer to edit events on their online calendar and just read them on the iRiver). I think I can cope with reducing the information 30 Boxes gives me into a format that RockCalendar will handle, but it would be helpful if it had a larger note field - for instance, multiple events on one day have to be glommed into a single note (because RockCalendar just has one note per day), but if the events have reasonably big names they just get cut off at 20 chars. |

30 Rock Boxes: App to copy calendar onto RockCalendar
Well, it's done - if anyone else uses the free online calendar 30 Boxes (http://30boxes.com), then they may find this of interest:
http://www.kludge.co.uk/30RockBoxes/ It's a java Webstart application that connects to your 30 Boxes calendar, downloads it, converts it into a simpler format, then saves it onto the player for use with RockCalendar. Admittedly the overlap of 30 Boxes users and RockCalendar users might be small, but I'm one, and if there are more - well, here you go! Caveats: Bear in mind that this isn't a sync app. It's purely one-way. The 30 Boxes entries overwrite the existing RockCalendar file. However, that seems fine to me (entering events in RockCalendar is a bit fiddly for me - I don't intend any criticism, because I think RockCalendar is great - it's just that there's only so much you can do with the buttons on the front of the H340). |

Excellent new version of RockCalendar - it has all the new features I was looking for!
I've updated 30 Rock Boxes to match the new features in RockCalendar 1.5: - Multiple events per day (using the new multi-line messages) - Any event with "Birthday" in the title will be tagged as a birthday on RockCalendar (and will therefore use the cool balloon icon). Web Start installations will be automatically upgraded to the new version the next time they are run, new installations can be downloaded here: http://www.kludge.co.uk/30RockBoxes/ |
