Turning off the LCD when the backlight is off won't increase the battery life by anything significant at all. The LCD doesn't chew up much battery, it is the backlight which is the ion muncher.

Still, the wave of updates are very pleasing!

Hmm, now that i think about it, i can see that it wont help "that" much, but it should help some. But i was very pleased to see the updates. At the rate were going, we will have a color/nice gui/videos and everything by summer. They are moving so fast on this project.

Keep it up rockbox =)

I'll be willing to bet that videos will come along by march. Unfortunately, I check the rockbox website almost everyday so that'll seem like a hella long time.

i'm pretty sure Linus has said that he's just waiting on someone who hasn't lost DRM already to test it. he doesn't want to release it unles he's sure it won't kill DRM

What would be spectacular is variable brightness. I hate having the blazing bright LCD come on when it's dark. Especially with a headache.

Howcome would you like to use your H300 with headache? Music and headaches didn't combine at all ...
Live it until your headache is gone and then play with it.

The point is, it's overall better. It saves battery life, and gives the user another option (isn't that what ROCKbox is about?).

Also, Close to You by the Carpenters does mix with a headache.

Well, it's simple zen. Our history teacher taught us that if you firmly believe you will die at a specific time, on a specific day, you will die. It puts so much stress on your body, it shuts down. I believe this works both ways. I firmly believe I won't die, so I won't. I really just accept it as a fact; I can't die. I've done so much shit to my body, I really shouldn't be alive. But, I am, and I figure I'll stay that way for eternity. If you believe that pain doesn't exist, it will go away. Like that guy on the Discovery channel who trains people to not feel pain--total psychology.

While playing hardball one time I once saw someone get hit square in his family jewels. He bent down, said no pain, and that was it.

Back to topic, (hint, hint, hint) I tried the 12/21 build and it's pretty good.
