Certain Songs not playing correctly on Rockbox

Hello, first off thanks for the hard work on getting Rockbox on the h300 players, I really love it.

I have one problem though, which isn't really Rockbox's fault I had the same problem with the iRiver firmware.

Okay here's the story, when I first found this problem on the iRiver firmware I posted a topic here asking for help
http://misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=25847
I basically got my answer to why the iRiver was skipping certain songs (see link), but no solution. So when Rockbox came out I was really hoping for these songs to work again, but to no avail they still do not work

But something different happens! In Rockbox, instead of skipping songs, it just stays at 00:00 and won't play until I fastforward the song 5 seconds. Which I will say is much easier than what I had to do in with the iRiver firmware.

Anyway I was wondering if there was some way of fixing this problem, and I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could help!

By the way I would also be willing to upload a few songs that have this problem if that helps at all.

If you have any questions on this I'll try to respond here as fast as possible, or you can check my previous thread (http://misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=25847), because that is about the extent of my knowledge on the subject.

I also have a few problems playing some tracks from various albums.
If it helps, I'll upload a track later. (though you may not like the music :]

I don't think the tracks are at fault. They play perfectly fine with the iRiver firmware.

I have mentioned it before.
A Machine Head album.. most tracks work fine, some keep pausing every 5 seconds or so.. continuously. I just have to skip the track.

Some albums are .ogg and some are MP3.

EDIT: It seems to be the ogg files which are not working correctly.
some tracks on the album 'through the ashes of empires' are totally cranky.
I might convert it to MP3.

I have a George Harrison album full of songs that do the same thing that the OP talked about. They are all mp3s...

Somethings to note: If they are in a playlist, and the "Faulty" song comes up, it plays fine, but if I choose the song specifically from the file browser it stays on "00:00" unless I pause/unpause, or fast forward a bit.

There's a thread over on the Rockbox site that might help with this ... it looks like there were problems with Rockbox if you rip oggs at level 7 +, more info here >>> http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=2052.0

Strange that is, coz i'm having difficulty playing the under q7's.

I might just revert back to 12 or 16th dec daily build, coz i am sure there were no problems back then.

Oh, and can u guys just tell me what programs, codecs and settings u use to rip oggs? I'm doing the same thing i think as what i was a week ago, settings at q8 etc, and i'm getting 54kbit files!

Cheers!

Find any post by DreamTactix291 and read the Audio Formats 101 and EAC Configuration Guide threads that are linked to in his signature. If you need more info, start a new thread or post your question in one of the existing threads regarding Ogg Vorbis encoding. Let's keep this thread on topic.

Thanks, but mine are mp3s. Anyways, I tried the new daily build and they work with just playing now, just take a second extra to load...but again, in a playlist, playing continuously they don't even have that extra loading time.

So, one of the new updates might have fixed it (with my mp3s atleast)
