Problem Dual Booting with Rockbox
I loaded rockbox today but I can't get the dual boot function to work. If I hold record while powering on, I get the screen that says "loading original firmware" but then the unit just powers off. I'm using firmware 1.28k. Any one have any ideas?

Yes, I am holding the Play and Record buttons
I just saw that 1.29 is also working with Rockbox now, but which patch tool do i use? Last edited by crules1111 : December 1st, 2005 at 03:55 PM. |

The thread is already old but I think it is worth to say that Rockbox is out and already running with 1.29 - in case someone reads this thread instead of the official Rockbox development thread.

The best way to find out when ROCKBOX is compatible with the 1.29 firmware is to keep an eye on the front page of rockbox.org. When someone (I assume linus) commits a patch to the CVS for the 1.29 firmware, that will be the time to patch the 1.29 firmware to work with ROCKBOX.
(That hasn't happened yet) |

Sorry, maybe I am mistaken but the patch for the '1.29K' firmware is already available:
Direct links for H320 and H340 (I am sorry if the 1.29 you are talking about is for the US/EU firmwares)

Right. If you want to compile the bootloader yourself from bootloader.bin, you can do it using the link to the IriverBoot page provided above. If you want to use fwpatcher, you'll need to wait until Linus updates it.

umm your problem might be that since rockbox will run off of a lower voltage than irivers firmware, the boot loader will start up, and even the rockbox will start up, but irivers firmware requires a higher minium voltage.
