Volume, replaygain, and mp3's that won't play

Been using an old version of Rockbox on my trusty IHP-120 for a long time. Just recently upgraded to whatever the latest build is. Really like it. A few questions:

1. Does Rockbox recognize replaygain tags or any other volume leveling technique? My mp3's vary widely in loudness.

2. Beside question 1, is there any way to add "digital loudness" to playback? In other words, if I raise the volume on my iriver to max, this is "0". Is there a filter you can use to digitally add volume, i.e. +1, +2, etc.?

3. A small number of my mp3's don't seem to play on the iriver/rockbox combo. They will display the ID info, but question marks (?) for the bitrate and other technical details. The song never plays. These mp3 tracks play fine on my PC. Anything I should look at about the tagging or encoding of these tracks?

thanks!

Rockbox does read replay gain info, set your preference in Replay gain settings. Please read Rockbox's manual for further comprehensive information.

Yes you can raise the loudness with replay gain gain settings, please read Rockbox's manual, but beware of clipping.

check the tags with a tag editor to ensure the integrity of the info within the tags, mp3tag is a good application for this, there are numerous other applications that you can use. sometimes the most amazing sh*t is buried in metadata which the tag parser chokes on.
