VIDEO!! When did this happen

Sorry if this has been posted previously but....

I was just poking about over at rockbox when I came across PluginMpegplayer.
And it had this
iriver H120 160x128 34fps 46fps r16485

So I thought "must be a misprint" but decided to try it anyway. So I downloaded this sample movie for the iAudio X5 and iriver H10 20GB 160x128-287kbps
because the h10 had the same screen size as the h120. Then put it in a folder on my player , I had to turn on the the show all files in file view to be able to see the movie file. Then it was just a matter of holding down the navi key and selecting the open with and then the mpegplayer option (as per directions at rockbox) and there it was , a little black and white video playing on my screen .

Video has been around on most ROCKbox targets for a while now. It's not bad, hey?!

Yes I think its very for what they've got to work with. I honestly thought that video on the h100 series was not being worked due to hardware restraints.
It's not really something that I will use much but I will stick a movie or two on just in case . From memory the has been several people asking about the chance of a h100 video function over the last couple of years so I've no doubt there will be some happy faces around.
Bravo to the rockbox team .
Yay for the h100 series .

For what they have to work with its pretty good. But keep in mind the player was not designed for this . The best bet is to download the sample video and have a look , I'm going to convert a bit of a variety of different things over the weekend (cartoons movies ect) and see what their like. I can post back my opinion (for what its worth) next week if you want.

thanks jumbuck, and yes it would be great if you could post your opinion. I´m amazed

as i begin to find out the capabilities of this player. Not only a great and cheap alternative

as a recorder for live shows, etc, but also as music and video player

Why didn´t i find out about this earlier?

Try some snooker... That should work well on the H100 screen

Good idea but I doubt the sound quality would be good enough .
Besides I'll want something that doesn't put me to sleep in the first 10 seconds .

The MPEG player has been in Rockbox for as long as I can remember. However, I tried it with the free Elephant Dream video, and was extremely underwhelmed. Thus, when upgrading Rockbox, I have a batch file that cleans up all the files I don't want (e.g. all the demos, emulators, languages but English, fonts and themes but Cabbie, etc).
However, I only blame the 2 bits display of the H140, not the Rockbox team: I have Rockbox on a Sansa e270 player, and the MPEG plugin works like a charm.
