The old clicking problem gets worse with RB

Hi there, i have had my iHP140 for quite a few years now and have always been very fond of it. I realised from very early on that i could hear a kind of background static noise during silence or during the quiet part of a song. I did a search and found that it was a common problem with the remote and the only way to get round it was to listen without it. It didn't bother me too much so i just learnt to live with it.

now i have recently flashed to Rockbox for the first time and i am very pleased with it apart from the fact that the clicking has got a lot worse. It is louder and more frequent, with the iRiver firmware it was more a faint static kind of noise now a definite clicking has developed. I don't really want to go back to the iRiver firmware but fear that i will be forced to because of this. I have searched the forums and can't find anyone who has successfully resolved this problem, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

There is a setting you can change in rockbox , though I've never used it myself. From the main menu go Settings > General settings > Display > Remote LCD settings > Reduce ticking .

EDIT here's the thread at rockbox about the above . Remote Ticking Fix
It would seem it may have some side effects on the LCD display.

Thanks i does seem to work, although it doesn't totally get rid of the ticking. I read a few other articles on the Rockbox forum and interestingly it seems that this ticking problem may be caused by updating on the remote screen. I'm going to have to find a RWPS with no animation on it at all and test my theory.
