Rockbox Removal

Hey there, as the title suggests, I need to get rid of rockbox. Im trading my H120 with a guy at work for a bottle of JD, and I want to make it as simple as possible for him to use, so I need to get the rockbox off it. Anyone know how?

Just remove the .Rockbox folder and reinstall the original hex file.

Trading your 120 for a bottle of JD - I think he's getting the better deal!!

Would you not leave it on for him - if you start with Rockbox then you don't know any different - Plus I'd hate to not have the playlist feature....

Im not sure he's bothered. I work at a DVD rental place with a webcafe. We got talking and he's into alot of the obscure bands and stuff that I'm into. He has a 1GB flash player that he loaded when he started travelling, and hes off to egypt and asia next week, and he wanted more music, so I brought the 120 in to let him load songs off it. He found so much stuff he wanted to put on his 1 gig, but It wouldn't all fit, so I said, just keep the player then. He wouldnt just take it though, so I said get me a bottle of hooch as a trade. Seems fair enough like. I know that its not the greatest deal on my part, but its a pretty nice thing to do for the guy, It's crap being on travels and having no tunes. I do things like this alot (giving stuff away for practically nothing) with the hope that there are other kind souls out there that do something similar for me if I needed it.

Im sort of abandoning iRiver, as they have gone all crap on me. If I could buy a new H120, I would snap it up, Right now. However, they aren't making any HHD players like the H120, and thats all Im interested in. All the cute little flash players are cool and all, but as much use as a chocolate spade to me. I now have a Sony NWA3000 which is good, except for not being drag and drop.

Very good karma - I hope this fella appreciates it - I'm sure he will when he is on his long flights, and hanging around airports

Yep - iRiver have let the side down on the HDD, high spec players, but they are finally doing something interesting in the flash field, as some kind of trade off.

I would leave for him, but if you still want to do it, copied from rockbox installation:

f you would like to go back to using the original Iriver software, connect the player to your computer, and delete the /.rockbox/rockbox.iriver file.

If you wish to clean up your disk, you may also wish to delete the .rockbox folder and its contents. Turn the Iriver off.

Turn the player back on and the original Iriver software will load.

Note: There’s no need to remove the installed boot loader. If you want to remove it, simply flash an unpatched Iriver firmware. Be aware that doing so will also remove the boot loader USB mode. As that mode can come in quite handy (especially when having disk errors) it is recommended to keep the boot loader. It also gives you the possibility of trying Rockbox anytime later by simply installing the distribution files.
