Rockbox now supports greyscale backdrop images for file browser--post your backdrops
Rockbox now supports the ability to use greyscale images as a backdrop for the file browser, similar to what's been available for the H-300 players.
This really is great news. Now if the creative people here just would develop and post their greyscale backdrop ideas--come on, you iRiver H-1xx users! |

I created a 160x128pixels 2 bits bitmap as per the manual, loaded it onto my H140, but I have three issues.
1 - I can't browse the .rockbox folder on my h140. Am I doing something obviously wrong? All other folders are accessible, but .rockbox just isn't shown up in the file browser. Since I load the backdrop from the root, it's not loaded on next boot (as stipulated in the manual). 2 - After loading the backdrop, again as per the instructions, it works fine but I get some dots that aren't part of my bitmap. These dots are not random, they appear as an uniform grid. 3 - The backdrop also shows during every other activities, for instance playback (which is not convenient). |

Can't help you with your other problems, I'm afraid, but I'm looking forward to actually see H1x0-Backdrops one day!

I just noticed that although I ask XnView to reduce colours count to 4, it still saves it with a 8 colours palette. Maybe that's one of my other problems. |

Latest CVS build fixed the backdrop noise
I'm still hoping for a way to disable backdrop during playback since it interferes with the wps theme (I'm using LlamaBeta). Meanwhile, I made my backdrop to only use the lighter shade of gray to keep the theme as readable as possible. |
