crc-error cyclic redundancy check
i only had my iriver H120 for a few days now....have rockbox installed on it.
everything has worked smoothly when transferring mp3's to H120, but last time i -drag and dropped- a few albums it didn't work. on my computer this popup shows "crc-error cyclic redundancy check"....how can this be fixed? i'm getting all stressed up over here....any help would behighly appreciated since i'm about to leave for travel in a few days. ugh. i can also add that i have the same problem to tranfer files from the H120 to my computer. ugh. plus, the fail-safe removal doesn't work... i tried to see if it was the computer that was causing the troubles, so i went to a friend and tried it out. same troubles there... /dan Last edited by mothersavage : September 16th, 2006 at 01:25 AM. |

Looks like a defective hard drive. You can try to fix it temporarily by formating the drive (not quick format), but sending it back is the only real option. Try to flash the original iriver firmware, if you can, because flashing Rockbox will often void the warranty.

I used to get that exact error message when transferring files from mp3 cd's I made for my car mp3 player onto my computer. These cd's got pretty badly scratched up, and sometimes it would be enough to mess up all the redundancy checking. A working solution I found was to use a old slower external drive. None of this info is probably applicable to you, but might give you some ideas. Horst's idea of formatting might work. You might also try defragging.
