This would meet the needs of many of us who use our players to review music or for language learning (not having sound makes it hit-or-miss in "rewinding" to re-listen to a selection), as well as address the concern that some have expressed, that they wouldn't want to lose the very nice current FF/REW accelleration option. And, of course, the FF and REW with sound should be an option that can be turned off as well, for those who don't need/want it.

This is the only major feature advantage I can see at this point that iRiver's firmware has.

I bet that would take you the entire semester . . . .
Good call I like this one.

And as part of it, we hold a sweepstakes guessing as to the number of hours needed to complete this.

Thanks for all the ideas.

The meeting with my supervisor went very well, but unfortunately I probably won't be undertaking a Rockbox project as it turns out that some of my other ideas are more suitable for a final year project.

I will still try and do some programming for RB, but I am no longer looking for major plugin ideas, and am therefore closing this thread. Any further plugin/feature requests should be posted in the appropriate forum.

If I decide to undertake the FF/RW playback project in the future, I'll start another thread for people to post their estimated number of hours in!
