Digital Camera Compatibility
Hi guys,
Sorry if this has been already covered, i did do a search but found nowt..... Any way, does Rockbox enable me to plug my camera directly into my h140 and download pictures like the H3xx series? Cheers |

No
No, this is not possible with the hardware in the H100 series, which only allows to function as a disk slave.

But, IIRC, one can purchase a separate "transfer unit box" which one connects between camera and the iHP player, and which then allows the transfer to be done. I believe Macauley (sp?) makes a couple of such units, and they were under $50.
EDIT: Well, I got close: it's actually Macally, with its 2 Syncbox products, retailing at $49. http://www.macally.com/spec/usb/inpu...e/syncbox.html http://www.macally.com/spec/usb/inpu.../syncbox2.html UPDATE: A similar device to the Syncbox I, put out by EagleTec, also is available at eBay at about $10 (BuyItNow, or $7.95 bidding) + $10 s/h: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3&category=162 MORE INFORMATON: The Macally device (the first version; can't seem to find the second, although it's been listed as "coming soon" at the Macally website for maybe more than a year, now?) seems to be out-of-stock all over, although it is available for just under $40 + s/h at B&H Photo. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ist&sku=415491 Perhaps the reason for this is the declining price of memory cards, when one easily can get a 1GB card for US$20-30 and a 2GB card for a little more. At that price point, and if one is considering something for use with a digital camera, the memory card could provide a cost-effective alternative. Your right about the price of memory cards, may just invest in them as an alternative! Thanks again! |
