Keeping settings when upgrading firmware?

Whenever I upgrade to the latest rockbox build I lose all my settings (wps, theme, crossfade on, file/dir view etc.)

Is there a certain file I shouldn't update if I want to keep my settings?

Most of the time, you can just overwrite the files (instead of deleting first then doing a 'clean' install) this should keep your settings in most cases. Occasionally though the config version is bumped with a CVS commit in these instances all your settings will be reset regardless.

What you should do is set everything set to how you want it then go A-B -> Manage Settings -> Write .cfg File, select a name and save. This saves a XXX.cfg file in /.rockbox folder.

Now whenever the settings are reset, just go to A-B -> Manage Settings -> Browse .cfgs and select the setting file you wish to load and voila!

Note: if you ever do perform a 'clean' install always back up any of these .cfg files along with custom eq's, wps's, themes, game saves etc. as these are all stored in the /.rockbox folder.
