H120 as a reporters recorder?
First a big thanks to the Rock Box developers! It's a wonderful tool on the H120.
I'm hoping to use the machine as a wav recorder for my podcasts and other projects that need higher quality. Anyone else gone down this path, and any suggestions on a useful hand held mic? Am experimenting with SONY ECM-DS70P and audio technica ATM61HE but think the answer may lay in between the two. Anyone been down this path already? Bob (newbie here) |

you may want to check out this thread - while mostly devoted to recording live music there is quite a bit of discussion about microphones and lots of links:
H Series Live Recording Guide v1.0 hope that helps

Thanks Redwood,
it's a great resource. I'm not sure to what extent mics that are good for concerts would also be good for close proximity voice recording. The binaurals look good, but you'd have to clip them on to your interviewee, I guess, which might slow you down a bit. There's also the question of bumping noise when you're holding a mic in your hand and to and fro-ing it to the person you're interviewing. The other issue is portability and toughness in being able to be thrown in a bag and carted around a bit. Bob |
