Reliable SPDIF Optical IN?

First off, I want to thank any RB developers here who have made the H1XX an amazing DAP. My first DAP was a Rio500 and I remember the love that went into writing the third party transfer software for it, this is entirely a different level of love and intensity for a product.

Many field recordists and musicians would like to see the SPDIF optical-in implemented for 16bit/44.1Khz and ideally for 24bit/44.1-96Khz. If done, it would change the quality dramatically for live recordings as well as provide a portable clipboard for musicians to bring HQ material from practice/rehearsals to recording sessions. I know it is currently being worked on.

There are a few field recordists that will beta test this if you need any volunteers!

Thanks in advance!

count me in

I'd certainly add myself to the list of people willing to trial the optical in, although I suspect there would be no shortage of volunteers at taperssection too.

Some progress has been made by preglow. I don't have any idea how to complile a patch but I am sure a compiled version will be around soon for us to try. 44.1 for now, and I was told 20bit was max for the processor.

It looks like its coming ahead in leaps and bounds! now I guess I need some advice on the best optical in - from an a/d I guess. I see that the Oade mod Edirol is in favour here - any other suggestions?
