how do i turn db scan on with rockbox firmware? is it possible
whats the boot time like thanks

The true DB scan function is only available in stock iRiver firmware. This feature, however, is very poorly implemented and is generally recomended against. There is no similar function in RockBox to my knowledge. What purpose do you have for a function like this anyways? I've never heard of anyone actually using it...

i guess i should just put my music in folders and then alphabetize?

There is a TagDatabase which results in a similar thing to DBscan on iRiver, you can then browse by artist, album, song, search, but its not that well implemented yet. A tagcache update is being worked on and hopefully will not be too long coming.

The ReleaseToDO page on the rockbox wiki suggests tagcache is intended for version 3.0 release in May, see the third bullet point in 'release critical features':

The tagscan is hardly worth it, IMHO. It takes forever to boot up, and for those with music already alphabetized/organized in some fashion, it seems a bit redundant. It is nice they implemented it for people whose organization of music is more eclectic, though.
