Recording Enhancements pack

Anyone interested in recording may want to take a look HERE.

Remote support
Better gain control
Clipping Light
Bigger peakmeters

and even customisable fonts if you go for the special edition

Hope that improves things!

I've been using this on my H120 and the clipping light is invaluable when recording concerts in the dark. The larger fonts and peakmeters do help in lighter situations, though. Great work! Hope this makes it into CVS real soon.

Do you have a build for the H340? I'm a noob to compiling, so it is much appreciated when a build, like the optimized build is available.

Here's a build for the H3xx then....I haven't tested it though as I don't have a H3xx! Tell me if it works....

Thanks for that build. I'll test that out in about 6 hours when I get home from work. I'll get you feedback then.

I played with it during lunch.

Clip light works based on peak meters on main display. Stays lit for 60s + default display time, after clipping reduced.

Remote peak meters are not sized properly. They show clipping when the main display peak meter is at about 50%

Font changes work fine. No ability to change remote font from main. I am using the H100 remote. The build might require the remote patch to work properly (unless you don't have that functionality to change the remote font separately from the main display font in this build).

The recording screen also shows the Backdrop background as set for the wps, so the patch for the Change Colors would be necessary when the font color needs to be a light color because of a dark backdrop.

The only thing that froze the player was when exiting the recording screen with off or A-B and scrolling quickly to another menu selection. I believe others are experiencing this, so it may be unrelated to your code.

I purposefully fixed the remote font to the default system font as any other won't fit on the remote (and due to the uncustomisability of the recording screen the only way around this is to fix the font).

I'm afraid that being a purely h1xx man, I'm not really sure about this colour stuff and I'm not familiar with any h3xx specific patches at all i'm afraid!

Yes if people who haven't used this patch have experienced this then it must be something else....

Recording Enhancements

The remote peak meters are working fine. Nice job!

What patch numbers are you applying for this? This might finally make me learn to compile so I can add them to the daily H3X0 Optimized build.

Any word on it being added to CVS?

If you look at the rockbox homepage you can see that the first part of this has now been committed! wooohooooo.......... .

Unfortunately though there are many improvements in this pack and only 1 will get committed at a time and it can be quite difficult to get the attention of someone with CVS access!

I think it will probably go in this order
i) gain patch - COMMITTED
ii) Cliplight
iii) remote peakmeter support
iv) remote recording screen support
v) customisable font size in recording screen

In it's present form (v) won't get committed as it is quite clumsy(changing font for recording screen and then changing back for WPS). Also there are problems with it being compatible with other builds (Different screen sizes being the main problem). Maybe we could have a set larger font for targets with larger screens....The question is, Which font!

Ok, seeing as the rockbox forums are down I'll post the links to the various patches/ builds here...

Now that the cliplight has been comitted this patch is really now just a remote support/enlarged fonts patch. but here are the links to the up to date versions

Patch for Changeable fonts version
Build for Changeable fonts version

Patch for Normal version
Normal version build is in my sig.

I have now managed to code what I think is an acceptable patch for committal which includes rwps peakmeters and the remote support. points (iii) and (iv) above.

If you would like to test it the patch is HERE
All comments welcome.

I have a problem using the record screen (reported here : http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/4917 ).

Once I have used the record function (I'm not shure if you must to shutdown the player at the record screen to reproduce the bug), the player (iriver H140), now always start in the record screen. And, that's boring

Somebody have seen such a thing??

Are you sure you haven't changed the setting "show recording screen on startup" to yes in the recording settings screen? as without doing this I can't duplicate this behaviour!

I'm sorry
You're right. The setting was set to "yes".
I have no idea of the existence of this settings and never changed this value because that's the first time I use the record function without changed parameters.
I apologies .
I'm going to delete or mark "resolved" the bug report I create (if I could...). Or if you could do that....

I just tested Mmmm's build with enhanced recording because I am use my iHP 120 often for live recordings - the new features looked good for me.

BUT: I can't change language to German with this build, menu appears and disappears immediately. My fault or a bug???

Would really love enhanced recording but I like the German menus too - makes a big difference against original Firmware.
