RB bootup time :(

i have just upgraded from an august spec RB to ver cvs-051205 with bootloader 6 on firmware 1.66 a couple of days ago.

i know it is still only a beta release, but the boot up time has drastically increased from about 3-4 sec to over 20sec now. also to change between themes and different .cfg's takes forever.

anyone else had this problem??? i got my iriver firmware to boot without db scan in about 11 secs. i am considering removing rockbox for now, until a better release is out. any one else have these problems?

I'm using CVS-031205 with Bootloader v6 and iRiver FW 1.66 and it boots in a little less than 7 seconds.

You could try the same build I'm using and see if it helps.

luxaeterna, i will try that build and see what happens.
Drumrboy320, if i have no joy with the other build i will try defragging, but can't see how changing bootloader and build would require a defrag. it booted fine with old build.
but maybe it's an issue with the RB and the new iriver firmware too (although i tested it and it still boots at 11secs)

well, i just know from personal experiance, defragging shaved at least 2 secconds offa my boot time, so even if the new bootloader made it slower, you could make it faster to begin with, with a defrag.

i changed to CVS-031205 and it now starts up nice and quick like before, so no real probs there, BUT when I change themes or .cfg's it does take a ridiculously long time. i used to have a car and a general cfg file and wouldn't take too long to switch between them. not so now.
thanks for the help guys.

I would try deleting everything from your config file except those specific settings that you want to change.

hi febs,

2 questions:

i still get long wait times when changing the included "themes" and isn't that a bit of a hassle having to go through the config file to delete stuff. can't it all just be don eon the player?
