How many have you flashed to Rockbox? (H100)
Because the other poll about it, is really old, I decided to make a new one to see a better "usage snapshot" of Rockbox in this forum.
So: Now that Rockbox is nearly a "Full fledged" multi-codec firmware. How many have you flashed? P.S:Please vote only if you own an iHP.

2nd user to flash a h120 (or 3rd, if you count Linus) - haven't used the original firmware since the first days of playback support.
For whomever voted/votes that you don't plan to - why not? I'm genuinely curious as to what reasons there may be for not doing it.

Since optical out is working and I got my DAC using FLAC lossless files now. Beautiful sound with my Headroom Micro Dac and Micro Amp (desktop module) to my Beyer DT880 headphones with Cardas cables.

This poll (in this early stage) shows a very different percentage of users from the other. I assume that this is due to fwpatcher.exe and of course playback support. Keep voting!

Yep, my H120 has been Rockbox'd since 13/06 (as soon as I realised it was playing audio)
I've been back to original fw once whan i needed to use the analogue line-out. And have only had it lock up/freeze 3 times and they were all in the 1st two weeks. The otf playlists I use every day, it's like having a new player. upinsmoke |

Yes, rockbox is cool!
I use it already about a month and now have installed the crosscompiler to see what I could give back the community. Bigup 2 da RB team!

Not had a chance to try Rockbox yet (unable to get anywhere to DL it - boo for work)
I fully intend to get it on my player as soon as I can - despite having to re-rip a whole load of my CDs again - I think the resulting pleasure will be worth the time. From what I hear the step up is amazing, being able to boot up & play quickly, OTF playlists (instead of having the thing in my hand every 5 secs when with friends) & the xfade features please me no end! |

The last several daily builds have shown a great improvement in listenability. FF/RW works quickly and without delay or strange audio artifacts, peak meter is running smoothly, seeking works well. The only regression i noticed was going from the text "USB Bootloader Mode" to a nice looking USB logofor a few builds, and then back to the text version.

No. The text "Bootloader USB mode" appears if you plug the USB before powering on. If you plug the USB cable while Rockbox is already running, a USB logo will appear.

Flashed back on July 15th (when I first learned that crossfading was working). Haven't had a single crash since then.

I've been using Rockbox for about 2 months now and love it! I have not gone back to the iRiver FW since.
One reason I can think of why a person might not use Rockbox is if they have chosen to use compressed music files that Rockbox won't support. |

oops, spoke too soon. It does actually still power off when it's paused after the set idle time power off has expired.
Also, is there any way when skipping back a track (even in the same track to the start) it can crossfade? I just like the whole idea of non stop music |

I finally installed it the other day. Funny thing is that just since last Thursday there has been TWO bootloaders and a new build every day!
So far I'm pretty impressed, was just waiting for optical out to get ironed out. Looking forward to recording, sounds like it will be a huge improvement (maybe even good enough for FG Did run into a weird issue with older playlists though. Not sure if I had moved some tracks or what, but when it hits a track that isn't where it should be, it seemed to error out and stop playing. It didn't lock up thankfully but still irritating.

I am ashamed to admit, that until JUST NOW, I have been holding off on flashing to the RB firmware ! Yes, I am a big ol' baby, who wanted to wait for a "stable" release yada yada, but I just couldn't hold out any longer it appears...
The iRiver and Rockbox community couldn't make it any easier in regards to the instructions and pretty much doing all the work involved. It was a snap patching and flashing, and I just did a test run for gapless with the one track I always said I would, just to see (well hear), and BINGO ! (The track is Airbag leading into Paranoid Android) I'm now listening to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and it just passed that test too ...I'm SO F'N loving this !!! Sighs of relief wash over me, as I slip into audio bliss. Now to read the manual and learn the intracacies of RB. One thing I noticed, is that the volume is around 80, whereas it would normally be at about an 8-9 with the regular firmware ? I'm not asking..I'll look at the FAQ's. Unless of course, this is something not covered there, and someone wants to tell me that something's screwed ? Till then...Happy Rockboxing ! P.S. I already love the difference in the GUI, the super fast scrolling, the fading light, how the shuffle option etc works...Brilliant !
