Hey, I'm not always available. Shoot me. Besides, I have no experience with Rockbox, so asking me is kinda pointless.

And huh?

The bootloader will change, but the general idea is that you won't have to update the bootloader very often.

It is definitely supposed to work. What happens when you try?

These are my ONLY quibbles with the firmware so far:
1) An option for a static screen and moving cursor when scrolling, not the other way round would be nice.
2) When a bar is selected as the cursor it is a bit pale and so the writing inside it is hard to read. Could there be an option to make this darker?
3) I noticed that on the battery current selector the minimum is 1500mA. The iRiver is 1300mA.
That's all though, otherwise perfect. Well done!

Also, can windows fonts be used?

Oh my god! Rockbox has JPEG support and I never knew. I just clicked on one of my album art pictures in a folder and it opened and displayed it! Amazing. .

please can someone help. I upgraded firmware to rockbox and everything, loaded it up, started viewing the plugins, and then i must have pressed something because while I was viewing one of the plugins the screen went blank - i know the battery wasn't dead because when i pressed a few buttons the backlight came on - is it something to do with contrast? Its not an emergency, as I can just wait for batts to drain, but please could somebody help

its so awesome though - ill be so chuffed when it can play mp3s. When creating playlists though, it created a playlist of all of the songs on my player - i do not know how to create custom playlists. However, well done to all those who are doing this for free, it is much appreciated.

Ok, so what's the general oppinion on safety of trying out rockbox? If somebody who knows their stuff regarding risk etc could give some input and let me know.

Also, how do I go about putting rockbox on my H. Yes, I have been following this thread since day one, but now I'm a bit confused with all the new firmwaves, builds and that.

So could someone tell me what firmware, what build etc is a stable version to run and test?
Thanks

Put them in a folder in the ROOT called TEXT. If that doesn't work click A/B for the menu and then go to 'General Settings' then 'File View' and then 'Show Files' and select 'Supported'.

So guys how do you view the tag database? I followed the above path but selected 'ID3 Database' instead but the main screen was then blank! I've created a DB so what's wrong?

Im not critisizing you, just saying having your AIM sn on this forum might give you more hassle, i know whats its like for that becasue i have been in the same situation before.

Also, My Battery bar always shows that its out of battery. I fully charge it and loook at the iRiver firmware and it recognizes it as full, but the rockbox is always empry. Its also great how you dont need the numbers in front of the song.("01 - Rock The Casba.mp3") Makes everything SO much prettier.

Rbx froze up when I was looking around the options... (froze on the "Show ID3 Info" option, to be precise). How can I shut it off? It's on a full battery :/

is it normal that i don't get a WPS, when i try to "play" ("play" because it won't work anyway) a music file? there are just the symbols for battery (which always shows empty), volume etc. And a obscure, blinking symbol in the upper right corner of the display.

It isn't finished yet. If you visit the rockbox site, they have a lot of the information you need. Many things aren't finished yet. With the battery, it always shows empty, or a "filling" animation when it's charging. Give it time...

I know, Just with me flashing it and all got me excited and restless. When it comes to rockboy, has anyone noticed a slightly distorted screen? I was playing Pokemon last night and some of the text was rather hard to read. It runs a little slow, but thats expected as its not a gaming device.
