Yes, but if you read page at the second link in my post, you'll notice the difference between rockbox queing, and iriver queing.

Its no big deal, but I miss it.

Thought of a couple of things.

Recycled directory is ignored by Rockbox, however if it detects there are several hundred MB a option can popup to request deletion of the files/directory (say if people never empty their recycle bin)

Record directory is ignored, or deleted on startup if detected.

Stereo width

I just noticed that it's possible to increase the stereo width above 100% - but I'm having a hard time deciding if this actually does anything yet. Thoughts anyone?

Oh, and the updated plugin for the 3D Cube gives an excellent demo of what the new graphics routines are capable of - try pressing some of the buttons to toggle settings in the plugin...

Cheers,
Martin

AFAIK, stereo width has not yet been implemented.

EDIT: Just tested on The Beatles Eleanor Rigby, which has extreme stereo separation. This feature is definitely not yet implemented. With stereo width set to zero, the separation is unaffected.

I'm using a bleeding edge build from yesterday afternoon.

The multiple channels doesn't work either. It's only in stereo, so no karaoke mode yet (although I can't imagine how good it'd be).

Question OK to use Rockbox with earlier iRiver firmwares?

Perhaps a simple question, but: can one use Rockbox with an earlier iRiver firmware (such as v1.60) without any issue, and without losing any of the great RockBox developments? I assume so and that one does not have to use the most recent iRiver firmware, but know I don't know enough to safely assume . . . .

Thanks--

I think so, but you would have to build the bootloader yourself because the fwpatcher.exe program that automatically patches the iriver firmware only works with 1.63 and 1.65. You can get more information here: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/vie...pic=IriverBoot

Thanks, Febs. I had read the bootloader installation page and saw that it only had links to firmware versions 1.63 and 1.65, which is why I thought to ask. But I also thought that the links to these later firmware versions might not mean that their use is exclusive--how many people really want to keep around an earlier firmware version? But I didn't see anything at the page saying that an earlier version wouldn't work as well. (And no way would I build the bootloader myself!)

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason that you want to use 1.60 instead of 1.63 or 1.65? I think that you'll find that once you start using Rockbox, you won't use the original firmware much anyway.

I was wondering if anyone would ask. Tradition: version 1.60 is, I believe, the last version with the "iHP-100 Series" boot screen (as versus "H-100 Series") ...

(I know I'll probably switch ultimately, but I'm not really using the player to record, and so the v1.65 advances don't affect me much.)

And the answer, from the good folks at the Rockbox site: use version 1.63 or 1.65 if you want to use the fwpatcher.exe "automated" firmware patching application.

It's been answered before but I'm stumped at what search terms could be used to find it??

simply press the iRiver play button when browsing to get back to the WPS

As soon as someone writes the code to make it fully functional. Not intended to be a flippant answer ... it's the way open sources such as Rockbox work: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/vie...ping_X_when_yo

Does anyone know if a user manual for RockBox AND the H1XX is available now? I have downloaded the normal RB pdf file but it seems to be written for the "other brands"

It would go a long way to answer some of these FAQ type problems......I mean I figured out how most of the functions work through trial and error but it would be nice is something was in writing.

Given that the devs are swapping the button functions around on an almost daily basis - there'd be no point writing a manual for the H1xx at the moment.

For instance, in the time I've been using it :

a) There was no context menu at all.
b) Then there was, and you held Play to get it.
c) Then someone noticed this screwed up the page up/down in the file list, so they moved it to the A-B button.

Some poor bugger would have had to do a lot of document updating to keep up with that - and that's just the one feature I can think of off the top off my head.

Cassandra is planning to update the manual when Rockbox is released for the iriver, but I think that she is waiting until more features are implemented and more final decisions are made regarding the keymapping. However, it would be fairly easy for us to create a wiki page with the basics ... sort of an iriver port "Quick Reference Guide."
