The command is actually java -jar but the error you're getting suggests you haven't got java installed anyway....you can get it by going to www.java.com

Oops, mistyped that then, I was putting java -jar.

Thanks for the assist though. No Java installed?! How the hell have I managed that? I could have sworn it was there!! Anyway it is now and I also have my database.

Thanks again.

You know on rockbox.org where it has the box and the dates. Are these progressions for other units or JUST for the HXXX series? Is there still as much work going into the Archos models or is the work for them complete and all work is just being concentrated on the iRiver?

How do I make it so if I play a song that's in an album, when it reaches the last song of the album it doesn't go back to the first song when it's finished but rather goes to the first song of the next album?

thanks

Depends. The general software improvements are for all supported platforms. Pretty much only the software-codec and iriver hardware work is iriver specific.

I flashed to Rockbox about a week ago (just couldn't wait...) - and has since then been trying to figure it out (how to make the most of it). Thanks to all the developers - this is a great improvement from the Iriver fw.

A few thoughts for further development:

1. It would be nice when running in the dtabase Tag mode - if you could have "All songs" as the first and default choice under "Artists" (now it's the bottom choice).

2. Would it be possible to read .wps-files (as they are plain txt), or have them flashing for a bit longer when browsing/selecting. If you keep several .wps files it would be nice to browse them - when changing fonts you often tend to want another .wps running.

3. This may already exist - or may be a stupid q, but still: the laguage support is very good. But the font section doesn't seem to add up - how do I find/pick fonts that show scandinavian letters? Is it possible to make font repository on the RB site - or include font suggestions or files in different language readme.txt files?

Keep up the good work - I am certainly going to make a donation when the RB is released.

Yes, this annoys me as well. http://rockbox.org/fonts/ has a list of fonts (only missing is the newer "snap" font, which does in fact include all characters in iso8859-15).

...and while we're at it:

Would it be possible to make .wps files with html-like tags, making it possible to include different fonts (and graphics) in the .wps display? Sorry if this has been covered before...

hold down the joystick, go to open with and select viewer

there is a font section on the wiki with fonts that are not included in rbx.

using graphics is enabled at the moment see the wps wiki site. the method for typing out the wps is like html just different commands it will not change there is no reason for it 2. Different fonts is being worked on as we speak.

I am of course aware of the .wps progress (as seen here and on the RB forum) - and would agree with those who feel that this is not a top priority request... . This is of course a H1*0 specific request, as the display on other devices are limited.

Will keep it shut now (at least for the rest of the evening)...
(after lurking for months, it was a relief to offer something to the forum

The only fonts that are present there but are not included in the (daily/bleeding) release archives are the ones that are too big to get used with Rockbox.

I wrote the scripts.

Is anyone having trouble inserting songs on the playlist?

when I do, occasionally it just stops and doesn't loaded up the next song.

Is this just a common bug?

I have been able to insert new songs/albums into the playlist, but the playlist sometimes doesnt continue onto the next song or album selected/added to the playlist, it doesn't happen all the time, so dupilacating this bug is difficult.

I think this is a buffering problem - when you insert new songs next in a playlist they are not buffered and so play stops when reaching the next song. Sometimes a song is buffered, sometimes not. I for one hope this gets fixed though.

yeah I agree with you.

I thought cross fade might help, but nope.

Well just as long as the problem wasn't limited to my player or anything then I'm sure it'll get fixed eventually!

You can build the Win32 simulator. There's a guide for setting up the build environment at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/vie...velopmentGuide. If you only intend to use the simulator, you don't need the cross compiler. Once you build the simulator, you can dish out just about any WPS stuff you want to. I have problems with my simulator build (haven't tracked down the problem yet) but I'm running Debian amd64. I trust in most other environments the sim works just fine.

Hi,
Just experienced a strange problem. I was listening to music for while with rockbox and I turned it off and then turned on the iRiver firmware and it was loading up but stopped at the "read file system" screen and didn't get by it so I pressed reset which just automatically loaded the iRiver again and did the same thing. So I tried twice more and it still happened. Eeeek! Anyway, When it was stuck on the screen I plugged in the USB cable and had it hooked to pc, then pressed reset again, this time thankfully it appeared as a drive in my computer and when I disconnected the device it booted up normally again.

Beware!
