I was using it in the car today (Rockbox of course) and twice it stopped playing. Once it stopped playback for about 2 seconds then continued playback. The next time it stopped completely. Went to the file menu then just shut down the player. Battery was fully charged.

Most odd.

Would it be possible to have a quicker fade in for the backlight and a slower fade out? Say keep the fade out as it is and speed up the fade in a bit?

That would be cool. May as well have customisable times for both fade in and out then.

For me it's already like that. The fade in lasts about 1 second and the fade out a couple. Given the choice, I'd certainly keep a fixed fade in/out setting rather than none at all, but would relish some 'customisability'

Would it be possible to be able to view the 'Comments' field of the id3 tag in the WPS?? I don't see this as an option, why is that? For alot of my MP3s I have the record label as the comment so it would be nice to be able to see this when playing the file.

A couple of things I've been thinking over the weekend.

Firstly, is the sound quality better with the Rockbox implemented codec's than the iRiver ones or is that just me getting giddy?

Secondly, playlist playthrough still seems almost unusable to me, anyone else getting songs stopping halfway then playing another or playing songs and displaying the wrong ID3 info. Seems to happen mostly when I have shuffle enabled, playing straight through seems ok.

Lastly, I need an obvious shortcut to the WPS screen (I know this is discussed elsewhere!).

Not complaining like, this is the best thing to happen to my H120 since the iSkins came out and I'm soo pleased that the firmware is now *almost* better than on my old Creative Labs DAP Jukebox

Yes I've had odd things happen with playing order and finally a crash, for me It happened after I'd skipped back rapidly several tracks then tried to go forward again. I'm not sweating it, after all it's not even beta software yet.

also, (i dont know whether this is just down to me being retarded) when i use the 1.65 EU firmware patched with the bootloader (coupled with a recent daily build) during file playbaack, a quick right press on the joystick fast forward 2 minutes (or maybe 4, forgotten lol) in the song, where as it used to change to the next song!

so now i have to press forward a couple of times when i want to move onto the next song in a folder/playlist. very strange.

checked all the settings in the iriver firmware, couldnt see anything id done to cause this. ah well. anyone else notice this?

Check to see if you have the study mode turned on, and if so, set it to zero.

I'm using the 2005-06-18 daily build, atm, and when i upgraded to the 06-19 daily build, it was rather buggy. Just wondering if anyone has tested a more recent build and if it is still buggy ?

I've been using today's build and I have noticed a few things, such as going to the next track or previous track seems to be taking a lot longer. But the fading backlight is so cool there's no way I'm reverting .

anybody notice that todays build also has a problem with (what was fixed yesterday) the inverse screen on the main DAP.

Anybody else having problems with the OTF playlists?
when i try to queue up some songs the player doesnt follow the playlist sometimes, it just stops playing. As a result if i choose another song the list clears.

Is there any chance of Rockbox being able to edit the actual tracks. Some of my tracks are live recordings and therefore have talking at the beginning/end of the song. Will Rockbox ever have the power to crop these parts off the file?

It doesn't yet work on the iriver, but it will in time.

After putting the 6-22 build on mine it boots right into a crash. Restting just reboots back into the same crash. Thank god for dual boot! Reverted back to 6-21

Looking at a post on the Rockbox site, the problem with the new daily build is if you have Resume enabled. Apparently there is some issues with seeking in flac and ogg files as well. Maybe worth waiting for a new build.

The 6-22 build is broken because of incompatible codecs. My fault. Will be fixed tomorrow.

But as an extra candy for tomorrow is the ability to run plugins while the music is playing.

Ooooh, has someone been doing some codec optimization? I thought the current state of affairs with most codecs was that too much CPU was required simply for decoding to make running plugins worthwhile.

I installed the 6/21 build last night (first time w/Rockbox; stock firmware up to yesterday), and discovered the inability to run plugins while music was playing pretty quickly. Had to scramble to find something to hit the reset button with

On another note, the installation instructions for iRiver are incomplete on the wiki. There's one crucial omission . . . you need to actually use the iRiver firmware flash feature from the H1xx menu to install the firmware patched with the bootloader. I can update it, but I'll need to get an ID I suppose . . .

Which page is this? http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IriverBoot quite clearly states "Just follow the normal Firmware Upgrade procedure."
