Rockbox - the project and web site - will never distribute any firmware written by anyone that we aren't allowed to. We are not allowed to distribute iRiver's firmware, AFAIK.

So, we cannot offer a complete and ready .hex file for download. We can offer tools that given an iRiver firmware as input, creates a fine Rockbox hex file for flashing as output, and that tool can be a nice GUI thing and all.

But we cannot and will not distribute stuff we are not allowed to. We are so often blamed and suspected for being illegal already.

Don't worry. I am sure when it is released someone will compile it into a firmware all ready for you to download from some other site than RockBox.

I think more importantly, RockBox will provide you with the means to attach any Rockbox firmware you want to RockBox, thus allowing you to use your custom boot logos, etc... alongside RockBox. Distributing RockBox with stock firmware would be bad for several reasons (Not just illegal). Distributing tools to ADD another rockbox firmware is MUCH nicer, becasue it allows the current H series Modders to keep their previous Mods, while adding Rockbox to the mix.

Does Rockbox have any way to remember how many times a song has been played? Can playlists be made based on this criteria? I didn't see any mention of this in the manual either.

thanks

I'm not sure what NP was talking about. Drunk?

Anyway.

Anyone with a real answer to my question?

Yes, you can remove a song from a saved playlist. Select the playlist in the browser, then hold Play until the menu pops up. Select Playlist->View. There you can delete tracks by holding Play on them and selecting "Remove". Then save the playlist again.

And no, we don't have any statistic functions.

Do we know yet if the recording glitch or time limits will be addressed with Rockbox? I'm guessing the time limits will as that seemed to be a software limitation.

Please remember that the recording glitch and the time limits were there because of the iRiver firmware. Rockbox is totally stand alone meaning that it is comletely different firmware than iRiver's and has none of iRiver's code in it. It is simply ported to work on the iRiver platform. So, to answer your question. Yes, the recording glitch and time limits will not be a factor as long as the hardware itself does not limit it.

Yes it's not(I'm from the Philippines). But I don't like it. I find it offensive (eating dogs) although I respect anyone's choice to do so.

Unless of course it's my dogs who'll be eaten (more likely not in their own volition) in which case I'll bring out my hand gun and shoot the bastitch once for each dog that I ever owned (more than 20 at least).

nuff of that. strayin off topic now. sorry.

I've thought of a useful feature, if the rockbox guys can do this..

Volume control effects headphone output (obviously)
But line outut is set at the correct true line level setting, and is not effected by volume adjustment.

Perhaps someone can find out what the correct line level voltage is? AFAIK you output a 1khz tone then adjust volume until it's a certain voltage with a multi-meter.

Useful if using headphone output and line-level out to a portable headphone amp at the same time.
