is it possible to include a standby-function, so that the player wouldn't have to boot up anymore?

( or an "image" of the RAM on the HDD for a shorter boottime )

Rockbox already starts very fast. You won't gain much boot time with a RAM image, and a standby function will only draw batteries.

Quick question. Is there going to be an option for the line-out to not be affected by the general (headphone) volume? It's a pain in the arse having to turn the volume right up every time I connect it to my hifi, then back down when I'm using headphones.

Too much wishlisting at present. Once the basics are in place (Heck there is no audio architecture in place yet!) then perhaps folks could look at other stuff? I'd say if anyone is interested in helping out to concentrate on audio playback if you can code it. If not then stick to what you do know. But surely playback of audio is the most important thing right now?

zero will be done rather than playback. the guys who can do playback, are doing playback. if someone sees something that they can do on a wishlist, they'll do it. that's the beauty of opensource. you're not submitting things to a corporation, and that corporation uses its energies to get all of the things done, thereby spreading themselves thinner on individual aspects, but rather putting things up on a 'bulletin board', and if someone can do something, they pull that piece down from the bulletin board and do it. linus, for example, is (and i'm guessing here) working on very few things other than project critical audio playback and other 'infrastructure' related items.

he's not going to make an on-the-go playlist generator that connects with imdb and pulls every song that has been in a movie featured at sundance, and writes that to a playlist that is wirelessly synced to your h-120, but only if it's the 'champagne' color, and not full black.

if you, however, want the above playlist generator, pull that card down and get to coding.

Thought of another idea- how about creating a database of headphones with applied EQ curves? You then choose which phones you have, then it loads up the correct EQ file. Say if a certain phone has 1khz peak by +6dB, the database for the model reduces the 1khz band by 6dB.

That's a perfect application for the Rockbox Wiki. You find your headphones in the table, and you set the EQ accordingly. Having the database in the firmware would be a waste of resources, IMHO.

yeah doesn't make sense to store it in firmware, or that entire database has to be stored on the DAP- seperate files for each phone would make sense and can be stored on the PC harddisc, and only the EQ profiles for the phones you use are transferred to the \rockbox directory, and allow you to change the headphone model/EQ enabled within Rockbox menu.

WMP has EQ profile for my FPS2000 speakers, and it does sound better than using flat...I guess it just depends if the speakers are inheriently peaky.

How about this:

You can save a point in a song that when you open it it will ask to continue from last point or start again. This would be handy for listening to long tracks such as audio books. The same feature could be implemented into the H3XX for the future for watching films etc.

EDIT: Obviously this isn't the "resume" function we currently have. I mean you would be able to stop listening to an audio book and listen to a song and go back to where you stopped in the book.

have you installed the database on your player yet? Its awesome, the database doesn't affect loading times, the database is quick to construct... All we need now is mp3 playback!

Mmm too bad there is no possibility to browse both from dir/files and ID3DB without passing by menu options...
I like the merge browsing chosen byiRiver when DB is on... (thought i don't like boot slowyness then )

I asked earlier if there was any way for the optical-in to recognise track breaks and read CD txt like on my old Sony Minidisc player, but everyone was too busy talking about password-emailing scripts and nintendo cheat codes to reply.

This is really quite important to me. I originally bought the iHP120 under the misunderstanding that I could record from my stereo in the same way as I could with the minidisc player. Would this feature be possible in the new firmware, or is that a purely hardware problem? I frequently don't have access to a computer, but do have LOADS of CD's I would like to record.

Any help would be appreciated!

(And I, for one, think password is a bit of a useless idea. If someone nicks my mp3 player, i really doubt they will give it back just because it's got a password on it. How many password-enabled phones have I lost? A few. How many have been returned by the crooks? None.)

Demonic it's possible with 1.65 fw..

So you've to choose between 1.63+Rbx bootloader or only iRiver v1.65 with the SAD option...

Till Linus test 1.65 with bootloader...

:hello:
